Well since we've already won the Not-A-War then our forces should be coming home tomorrow, right?

Most self-proclaimed Christians don't know much about what the Bible actually says:

importantly, back door access to power
So now Tim Cook or Larry Ellison can stroll into the Oval Office any time and know that they can get a ready ear from Trump.
The only way to end this is with a complete overhaul of the social contract.

there is a place for them in today's GOP.
And with MAGA votes in hand the rich descended on Congress to get what they've always wanted:
Massive tax cuts for the super-super-super rich and for businesses
Rollback of business regulations
Massive cuts to federal social services
And most

Seems like many people still don't seem to realize that we're in a class war. The super-super-super rich have backed MAGA chiefly for their own benefit. The hating of "woke" and "political correctness" was simply a way to tell the nation's most misogynistic, racist, xenophobic deplorables that

Trump just stated the objective: unconditional surrender.
It's not a limited operation, it's not a simple Venezuela style decapitation. It's ALL OUT WAR.
Oh but Mike Johnson and Markwayne Mullin and Rubio all insist it's not *really* a war.
I guess the Trumpies have a special GOP only dictionary.
Excellent discussion Jamelle.
I would only add that Miller's description of "law abiding citizens" being those who deserve protection really means "compliant citizens."
Also the word "citizen" means that he doesn't think that the 4th Amendment in particular should apply to non-citizens.
VERY helpful reporting Jen. Thank you for bringing this to us.
Constitution and the law? GREAT! Run the entire federal government from the Oval Office on an unending stream of EOs? GENIUS!! Bomb the hell out of Iran? ABSOLUTELY!!
This is what conservatism in the United States looks like. Trump is exactly who they have been waiting for.

I'm not sure I agree that Trump cowed the congressional Republicans. I think the main reason they voted for the BBB and against the war powers resolution is that Trump has been doing exactly what they want. Destroy USAID/FEMA/Dept of Ed? LOVE IT! Kill Medicaid and SNAP? AWESOME! Ignore the

Good essay by Mr. Katulis.
Short version:
If the Trumpies invest now in coalition building and planning we maybe could get out of this godawful Trump created mess without totally destroying the U.S. economy, it's military might, regional stability, NATO, or the general world order.
Easy-peasy.
Clyburn's statement was a full throated endorsement, not a delusion.
If that was Joe Biden's lifelong mission why did Jim Clyburn back him in 2020?
war, but nobody likes to do that.
Congress passed an Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) for the Afghan/Iraq war. That's much more palatable. A change of wording from declaration of war to AUMF would make it easier for Congress to assert its authority.

Is our involvement in Iran a war as the President has said, or is it a mere defensive action as Mike Johnson claims?
Well gee, if the Department of WAR is dropping bombs on Iran it sure seems like a war.
But this highlights a problem with the Constitution. Congress has the power to declare

I would say that Biden is a man who ardently believes in negotiating, whether with Congress or heads of state. And he recognized that large numbers of American voters support Israel no matter what.
Netanyahu had no intention of negotiating with Biden. He assumed Trump would win in '24 and then he would be able to manipulate Trump to go to war against Iran for him. He was stalling. Biden's mistake was in assuming back room negotiating could lead to a breakthrough. There was no chance of that.
Great to know that Trump's war on Iran is heralding the End Times. I've been looking forward to watching the faithful get raptured up to heaven.
Just one tiny little caveat-- Jesus was not the Messiah:

The Trump Doctrine:
What's ours is mine, and what's yours is up for grabs.
When you sign a document agreeing to my terms, you MUST comply with it FOREVER!! But when I sign an agreement I can abrogate it whenever I want.
Pay me enough (under the table) and you can get whatever you want.
A) We're in too deep to pull out now.
B) The Trumpies don't care about the Constitution, or Congress, or the courts.
C) So any move to stop the war now would be symbolic.
BUT IT'S STILL NECESSARY!!
Call your Senators and Representatives!
Trump is a master con artist, and MSM fell for his con.
I still remember a Biden press conference at which every reporter was screaming at him. That never happened with Trump. Not even when he held a conference to show off tables piled high with blank papers-- ostensibly his tax case docs.

2016: Trump campaigned on a massive tax cut for the middle class. McConnell whittled it down to a modest cut expiring in 10 years, paired with a massive cut for the super-super rich.
2024: Trump denied any knowledge of Project 2025, then packed his administration with Project 2025 people.

"Preventive" = "preemptive" in Netanyahu/Trump speak.
Sorry-- Loomer, not Mace.
A: Anyone who isn't a white Christian nationalist.
This is nothing but straight up ethnic cleansing. Mace is a monster. Those who support this mania are monsters.

Okay, so Mace wants all Muslims in the U.S. to be rounded up. That would apparently include U.S. citizens. Then what? Put them in concentration camps? Turn them over to the Second Amendment people? Strip them of citizenship and deport them?
Q: After they've purged the Muslims, who's next?

conservatives LOVE to blow stuff up:
They blew up Iraq.
Under Trump they've blown up the Constitution. And Congress. And the rule of law. And USAID. And Medicaid. And SNAP. And FEMA. And the Dept. of Ed.
This is just the latest in a barrage of destruction. Yawn.
