#sketchoftheday: I added another drawing to my non-mini sketchbook. This time a figure study, because I have not been to life drawing in a thousand moons. My reference came from the page of the very talented and stylish Sarah Heath, with respect. Amazing dance pieces. Watercolour & brush pen.

I'm going through the same thing right now on a digital piece. I'm much quicker with some watercolours and a sketchbook. At least the results are there when you get to the finish line!

Comic artist & writer Troy Little was back in town today due to a stopover so I brought my little sketch book along to an impromptu meet-up. I really appreciated getting a chance to compare notes with Troy outside the bustle of a con, and it was great seeing Doug Savage again, too. Good afternoon!

The Beasts of Burden Omnibus with cover art by series co-creator Jill Thompson. The cover shows five dogs and two cats reacting to a skeleton laying in a bloody ritual circle in a front yard. The series is about household pets and strays that defend their neighborhood from an occult plague that sees ghosts, witches and monsters threatening their hometown of Burden Hill.

The BEASTS OF BURDEN OMNIBUS was published last Feb and is still available to be adopted by comics readers, pet owners and horror fans. "Dogs and cats defend their neighborhood from the occult" might sound like a silly kid's comic. It's not. Winner of 8 EisnerAwards. Ck it out.

I forgot how sweet it is to stroll the aisles of cons and properly take in what artists are offering, instead of rushing to grab that one thing you can’t get anywhere else a minute before close when you table.
