A big thanks to all of the authors and reviewers who contributed to this issue! Doctoral training is foundational yet less focused than other levels of clinical neuropsychology training. It was a joy to work on this special issue and highlight so many voices and perspectives.
The issue closes with a commentary and a friendly call for other clinical neuropsychologists to consider careers as doctoral faculty. Doctoral faculty uniquely shape the field through admissions and mentorship, and these roles can be deeply rewarding despite their real but manageable challenges.
It also addresses how doctoral training is structured and delivered, as well as how trainees are prepared for the profession and the future of the field. This includes advocacy and leadership training, career development, and the central role of research training in clinical neuropsychology.
The special issue brings together work on key challenges shaping the doctoral training pipeline and trainee experience, including early exposure to the field, international trainee issues, burnout, and trainee satisfaction.
I had the opportunity to co-guest edit it with Dr. Becky Ready. Becky and I are both officers with the Association for Doctoral Education in Clinical Neuropsychology (ADECN) (www.theadecn.org).
I’m excited to share that a special issue of the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology (www.tandfonline.com/toc/ncen20/4...) focused on doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology is now available.
Articles address increasing knowledge about training, satisfaction and burnout, barriers faced by international students, doctoral coursework and shared didactics, integrating practicum and research, advocacy and leadership training, and the central role of research training.

Excited to celebrate the end of my first full semester at the Graduate School with a promotion to Professor. I’m grateful to the those who have supported me throughout this journey. Looking forward to continued service, scholarship, and leadership in support of graduate faculty and students at LSU!

Our lab had a great morning at the 4th Annual Senior Black American Health Fair hosted at @penningtonbiomed.bsky.social. We conducted 60 free memory screenings, offered fun VR “travel” experiences, and provided info about our free neuropsych clinic for those otherwise unable to access services.
