The delegation said the proposals could result in a $100 million budget deficit for the DeKalb County School District and impact funding under the education special purpose local option sales tax.
"The legacy Beacon Hill community unequivocally supports early childhood education for all Decatur children. CSD has a reasonable alternative location for the proposed school—a nearby property is immediately available in an existing building, within a short walking distance of downtown."
