A5: Some mistakes that I always make while book talking is being too scripted and not having a good grasp on a book that I am talking about. I try to have basic notes on books, but sometimes it isn't enough! #TLSkyChat

A4: I would connect a book to TikTok, mostly because I know a lot of the trends that my students know...which would make the talk more engaging (and hopefully not cringe-worthy)! #TLSkyChat

A3: Having animation to your voice and body language can help sell a book. Again, showing that you are excited about a title can help sell it to your students. #TLSkyChat

A2: Book talking books that you actually enjoyed reading makes book talks more authentic. Some of the books I have talked don't interested me at all, which make my talks feel inauthentic and kids can see through it. But when I am excited about a book, my students are too! #TLSkyChat

I am finally getting to this (a week late)!

A1: I did one today for "Inkheart" that started with: "what would happen if all the characters in the library came to life?" Did I sell it? We shall see! #TLSkyChat

I taught h.s. English & I am now a school librarian.

I have always taught students they can DNF any personal reading.

We would then discuss work/professional reading.

We need both knowledge & stamina AND choice.

Somehow* that has gotten very lost over time.

In my system, you can get a library card even without an ID. Stop invoking libraries, which are the antithesis to this administration's positions and policies to spread your lies.

This will be a personal collection of mine, as most are not in the best condition for circulation anyway. I’ve weeded tons of winners from my collection and I couldn’t even move my display this year, so I understand your pain!

A new life goal: reading all 104 (and counting!) Newbery winners! My collection started yesterday, including 28 titles (plus two not pictured here). I am extremely interested to see how children’s lit has changed over time…

The students mention there not being classes in media literacy for middle and elementary students, and that's likely because schools are less likely to have a professional librarian in those schools than in the high schools. Because guess what's first cut during budget issues? Media specialists.

I've still yet to be given a good reason why I should want to ask ChatGPT anything
