This new set of resources that I authored for @rsc.org @rsc-eic.bsky.social has turned out nicely. I particularly like the scrolling website which can be used as a learning resource in its own right. Thanks EiC for turning my drafts into these high quality resources.

@dave2004b.bsky.social shares the next article in our Teaching practical science series on monitoring reactions, written originally by chemistry teacher Morag Easson. Read it here π

I tend to use the balls rolling down the hill into a valley analogy. They seems to have a good grasp that objects are more energetically stable lower down (stuff drops) and then gradually linking to the energetic well. Never perfect, but stops them anthropomorphizing atoms (mostly...).
Good to see my first article in the review of this CPD series published.
Thanks Catherine.
It's interesting how much the staff also see their growth and development in the model.

Are there any Microsoft Showcase School colleagues who might be able to help?
I don't seem to have access to the Team, and am wondering if they are doing a meeting post-BETT this year.
hello Bluesky. This is the RSC SaFE Group committee's new official account on here!
Please do follow us if you are interested in teaching and/or learning chemistry for 11-19 in UK schools. We organise various F2F and online meetings & conferences around the UK to support chemistry teachers.
They were the days!
Nice :) Lego blocks for me, which are also very useful for teaching compound formation.
Now including digital copies of either Primary Science or School Science Review journals. Please spread the word.
Looking forward to supporting ECTs with planning safe practical work. @cleapss.bsky.social provide excellent resources across primary and secondary science.
Looking forward to this upcoming network where we'll hear about a scale-based approach to teaching A Level Chemistry fundamentals and @isaacphysics.org will share their automarking chemistry questions.
Open to all teachers (not just OCR) and free to attend: buytickets.at/ocr1/1326393 #ChatChemistry
They certainly do! Will play it by ear to start with - probably once a week, about 10 minutes.
I'm looking to develop more through-year practice and revision in and out of lessons.
This term, I'm going to try out some more student free writing at the start of lessons. Give them more opportunity to retrieve and reconstruct their knowledge. Give me more time to deal with start of lesson admin. Then model answers and allow some self assessment. Thoughts?
Go for it Helen. I think you'll find a good readership.
Really interesting read, and many points relevant to those stepping up into #SLT roles next month.
It's quite nice having a feed full of #educhat again!
Thanks Helen - seems like a lot of old friends have moved over here. Hope your summer is going well.
