Anne Lamott: βAlmost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. Start by getting something β anything β down on paper. What Iβve learned to do when I sit down to work on a shitty first draft is to quiet the voices in my head.β medium.com/go-into-the-... #writing

βOn November 2, 1920, in the small town of Ocoee, the single deadliest Election Day massacre in modern American history unfolded. And for nearly a century, the state looked away.β
Fixed it.
JD Vance β’ @JDVance β’ 04/09/2021 ..β’ Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.
Wonder what became of him?
They always make nonsense comparisons like this.
There is no Constitutional right to rent a hotel room.
There IS a Constitutional right to vote.

A possible upside to people developing emotional connections with an AI? What if AIs were required to operate only on the basis of provable facts and science? The emotional damage, at least, might not lead to destructive conspiracy theories accepted as true.
The idea that the world is ruled by a cabal of child predators and rapists, all promoting each other into positions of power and controlling the media that should be reporting it is deeply, deeply troubling.
There was a very memorable episode of ScriptNotes a couple years ago that dealt with this issue decisively (and with fun)
My favorite Woody Allen quote, βShowing up is 80% of life.β
I knew Judy Linn in high school!
Just saying. Iβve always enjoyed Jeopardy. Iβm even okay with the new host. Ken something, right?
Iβve always liked Tom Friedmanβs perspective. I didnβt know he was from Minnesota. This conversation explains well why things are the way they are in America, and why we're in this mess. www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2z2...
I would love to hear Democrats committing to Tom Friedmanβs immigration wisdom:
βA high wall and a wide gate.β
Wow! This read-along of the NYT moment-by-moment leading to the murder of Alex Pretti should shake everyone awake. He was a Good Samaritan.
Agents fired at least ten shots in roughly five seconds. DHS and Pam Bondi claim Pretti approached them armed and intent on a βmassacre.β
hey everybody lifelong tech expert here
> "system crashβ deleted nearly two weeks of surveillance footage from inside the facility
that's not how anything works they're lying and destroying evidence hope that helps
In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.
Excellent route!
Gosh, you mean tariffs arenβt for grand economic reasons?
Very little discussion about this but 153 Dems joined MAGA to vote for HR 7006 to:
β’Advance abortion restrictions
β’Send $3.3B to Israel as they commit genocide
β’Crushes Palestinian autonomy
β’Ignores our healthcare
Here's who voted YEA & a script to call them out: www.qasimrashid.com/p/153-democr...
OF THE EMPIRE We will be known as a culture that feared death and adored power, that tried to vanquish insecurity for the few and cared little for the penury of the many. We will be known as a culture that taught and rewarded the amassing of things, that spoke little if at all about the quality of life for people (other people), for dogs, for rivers. All the world, in our eyes, they will say, was a commodity. And they will say that this structure was held together politically, which it was, and they will say also that our politics was no more than an apparatus to accommodate the feelings of the heart, and that the heart, in those days, was small, and hard, and full of meanness.
Ever relevant, this poem by Mary Oliver, especially today.
Perhaps for the first time ever, Trump's "Truth Social" is featuring the actual truth rather than Trump's lies.
This can't last. I predict that Trump will call in Musk or some other tech bro to "tune" the AI bot to deliver only "alternative facts" that support autocracy and racism.
Former President Bill Clinton calling for transparency.
Google is hosting a CBP app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants, while simultaneously removing apps that report the location of ICE officials because Google sees ICE as a vulnerable group.
ICE is arguing in court that US CITIZENS can be detained, handcuffed, and biometrically screened unless they can prove citizenship on the spot. And that a REAL ID isn't enough. This isn't border security. It's a "papers-please" America where freedom is conditional and innocence comes last.
