To call ourselves grateful feels like diminishing the truth. For all of her labor and her dedication to CAF and RJ, we are better because of it and our future is brighter with her vision cross stitched in our constellation.
Lauren is a leader and co-conspirator in the realization of Reproductive Justice; she does this as a parent, partner, full spectrum doula, and while being a student (NOW GRADUATE). Her lifeblood is this movement, and she has shown up to it by enriching CAF day in and out.

Thank you to all of our partners who sat on the front lines each day defending South Carolinians against this bill! We celebrate by exhausting the limits of our right to educate and remind folks of their right to the access to abortion, in honor of the time the thought they could stop us.
As we said before, this bill was not brought forth by South Carolinians, and without a single voter in the room was still defeated by the people. This Total Abortion Ban is behind us for today while we juggle multiple attacks from all angles, but our win can not be left behind.

S. 323 was defeated in committee because Senators could not bear to vote against the will of their constituents.

This week is Trans-Awareness Week and on this particular day we take part in the collective act of veneration. For every single soul we’ve lost, the lost “little rooms” that held great things like future acts or safe places to connect, and all the old ways and the old days that gave way to our todays-- both in privilege and in struggle--we encourage you to speak them aloud today. Spare yourself fear of looking or sounding silly in order to fully seat yourself at their feet, or in those old bars, or back where you were petitioning for something that we all get to enjoy without thought now. Say their names aloud. Dance in your space right now. Remind the youth what they must remember to maintain their freedom. Most importantly, use the rest of this week to celebrate our siblings who are still alive and with us.
