This has struck me as the dominant US myth for the past 10 years or so. Even the grossest acts of the country's worst people must be attributed to Israeli or Russian puppeteers. Even Trump can't just be awful for his own sake.
One of my earliest traceable ancestors lived in the early 15th century was called "Joanne the Fat". #justmedievalthings
90% of UK children's animation: "The Adventures of Bighat & Smallhead". Bighat is an ordinary boy who wears a big hat. Smallhead is his younger brother. Only Bighat speaks.
They walk around their town having adventures where they see ordinary things but are surprised by them.
There are a lot of legitimate questions to ask about Israel's role in lobbying the US to fight this war in Iran, and also a lot of antisemitic conspiracies about the "Zionist-occupied government" going around. I wrote about sorting through those fuzzy lines here: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Pakistani submarine Hangor sunk Indian frigate INS Khukri with a torpedo in 1971, before the sinking of the Belgrano
A lot of people say AI isn't very good for the world and its outputs are routinely unreliable, but these haters fail to see how it's revolutionizing how we incinerate schoolchildren.
It's exciting to be witnessing history in the 21st century because at last we're seeing the dialectical synthesis of historical materialism and the Big Man theory: the concentration of wealth and power in such a small ruling class that the world turns on how incompetent they are as individuals
I'm really curious what important secrets the Chinese security apparatus thought they would find in Pontyclun

Trump keeps talking about the defeat of the Iranian navy as if it's a great victory.
All respect to the sailors who've died, the vast majority of whom are conscripts
But from a strategic perspective, has anyone really cared about the Iranian Navy since, like, the Achaemenids?
If Spain, a NATO member state, can refuse to facilitate war, a neutral state has absolutely no excuse!
Ireland should not be used as an aircraft carrier for empire. Shannon is not a staging post for destruction. US military out of Shannon. US military out of Aldergrove!
You don't continually target the other side's leaders unless you're not planning to ever negotiate peace with them
And all else being equal, sure, war would be better if the leaders just fought things out between themselves. But then, if that's the goal you don't keep bombing schools & hospitals
One problem with the "Trump is bombing Iran to distract from the Epstein files" line is, it obscures how conservatives have been itching to bomb Iran, for any or for no reason, for years

I grew up in the countryside so no civil defense sirens -- but at night sometimes we would hear planes flying maneuvers out of Bradley Field. Years later I found out that the sky over me was a mustering spot for US strategic bombers and that Soviet warheads would have checkerboarded us with blasts.
Liberals are the ones who love the lesser of two evils when the "lesser evil" is Democrats. are the ones who love the lesser of two evils when the "lesser evil" is Iran. (Conservatives just love evil)
The US Secretary of War who's leading the bombing campaign against Iran has an Islamophobic, antisemitic tattoo. This is important to remember whenever the US government tries to justify the bombings.
So the great and just empire we're all supposed to respect has managed to kill 108 children, while the urgent threat to the great and just empire that we're all supposed to be afraid of has managed to kill 2 civilians
It's strange to watch two paper tigers fight
You can hate Khamenei all you want. Nobody's stopping you. But you should at least try to love all the innocent people who will get killed in a war to get rid of him -- because in any war, it's innocent people who get killed the most -- more than you hate any one person.

The truth is not the average of a fact and a lie.
do not see Greene’s opposition to this war as her waking up to the evils of American imperialism. See it as her pulling a Charles Lindbergh
Almost certainly true, and another opportunity to remember that Netanyahu would willingly trade away the safety of every Jew on earth to save his own political career and avoid going to prison for his crimes.

Pearl Harbor was a "day that will live in infamy" but when the US starts a war in the middle of negotiating it's "tactical surprise"

In particularly complex circuit boards sometimes going to a 3d layout becomes necessary...the condition for this is indeed related to graph theory (the circuit contains a complete subgraph at least K5 or complete bipartite graph at least K3,3) and graph theory maps onto knot theory very closely

The belief that intrusive thoughts are expressions of a person's "authentic" self, more than the higher-order moral thinking that rejects them, is a culturally Christian belief, reflective of the teaching that "sinning in one's heart" is as real as one's actions.

LONDON (AP) — Police say former UK ambassador Peter Mandelson arrested in misconduct probe over his ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
