Fantastic Four had me about ready to flip a table at the end, but overall it was a fun summer movie. I appreciated a superhero movie that wasn't so much about physical strength and being broken for a change.
I wish this surprised me. But I have been bts of CanLit and so this doesn't. It does disappoint me though so I guess I'm not entirely jaded π
My hot take on the Eden Mills AI response is that the organizers don't think they did anything wrong. But sure, keep crapping on Romance, CanLit, we're the ones who miss the point of literary writing π«
Just reached The End and the book hangover is going to be outrageous! What a gem of a book π₯Ήπ₯
So far so GREAT! Just thrilling enough that I can't read it right before bed π I'm about halfway through, fabulous company on a summer long weekend π (aka I freaking love it!!)
I am so excited!!! π
A copy of the latest issue of Vanity Fair with the simultaneously super hot and super cool Pedro Pascal as well as a copy of ZomRomCom by the equally super hot and super cool Olivia Dade, whose latest book, as pictured here, I suspect will yet also be super hot and super cool π
It's going to be a reading long weekend! Wasn't expecting ZomRomCom yet, gotta up my snack game, brb!

I know that there are a lot of people in my life who don't understand the war in Gaza. Here's a free article that gets to the point, without downplaying it. It also talks about why the word famine is being thrown in when we know it's calculated starvation.

I knew what the hockey trial verdict would be before it even began, and yet my body and mind still feel shocky.
Dear EM: I believe you.
Rocky Harbour NL at low tide. It is, indeed, rocky. There are some low mountains in the background and heavy cloud and fog dusts everything above the horizon. It was about 15β°C and glorious.
Back from my Newfoundland vacation (it was my 3rd trip--if you've been thinking abt going, book that trip!). Already want to go back! This is a photo from one of my favourite towns, Rocky Harbour.
2/2 Some things happen off screen that are very much discussed on screen and so I think a content note would be appreciated by many.
1/2 I loved Materialists. Excellent contemporary romance. Not a romcom. It goes deep into what dating entails, it doesn't shy away from the awful, but also doesn't shy away from what love is, and what marriage isn't. I'm impressed.
At one point, while I still had trust issues, I whispered to my friend, "Are they shapeshifters?" having already wondered if any of them were ghosts, and I was wrong on both counts.
Just home from the theatre. I loved it. Excellent contemporary romance. Not a romcom. It goes deep. Should have a content note for things that happen off screen but discussed at length on screen, so our weariness was well placed. But I am impressed that they went there. Laughed hard at the very end.
Just finished watching The Bodyguard, and considering I first saw it when I was a tween, I think I need to give it a lot of credit for fueling my slide into Romancelandia π
Holy cow does the marketing team understand the assignment eh!!!! π€
Immediately after that my aunt texted me to ask how my book is going because she wants a signed first edition, so if I was looking for a sign I think that's it π§
Starting from scratch w social media is neat bc it's cautious void screaming since so few see these now, but also the Internet is forever. Anyway, today I said no to a freelance client who wanted me to move their project up in my schedule, but I need to treat my book like it's my job.
Did I unintentionally agree to getting emails from a publisher's marketing team about new books when I accepted a NetGalley ARC? Is this a thing with NG and I missed that in the fine print? Or did the marketing team make this decision for me...?
Gorgeous! The book, too! π€©
I regret to inform you that I'm a Leafs fan.
In related news, I picked up some local beers for Dad and I to try this evening.

Take my money!!! And because I'm a Kobo VIP, my Kobo purchases were only 89 cents each!
It's been a week, and I wrote 2 paragraphs last night in a chapter I was ready to heave entirely, at a time when I didn't think I had the capacity to even think about my ms, so this might be working π§
The first day there was "eau de imposter syndrome" in the air every time I looked at it. But today the looking at my cover felt like my superpowers might be manifesting.
I've set my cover as my phone's wallpaper. Will report back as to whether this is motivating to get the draft done.
