ββ PALANTIR IS SUING USββ Because of our reporting on the #SwissPalantirFiles.
More specifically, #Palantir is suing #RepublikMagazine, with whom we (@adfichter.bsky.social, Lorenz Naegeli, Jennifer Steiner,Balz Oertli & me) published our major investigation in collab with #WAVRecherchekollektiv
@profil.at nimmt an beiden Programmen teil.

Solche Debatten schockieren euch?

Also: wachsam bleiben. RΓΌckrat zeigen

What an incredible piece from Patrick Fealey, an award-winning journalist and writer, who became homeless last year. I often think about how wide the gaps are in Britain's social security net compared with Germany's. But America is truly in a different league.

This will be my eleventh year. It's still one of my favorite rituals. It helps me see how phases of my life wax and wane.
Each year new translations come in. We're up to 30 languages! Thank you to all the contributors π₯°

Its literally embarrassing how boring it is this year. Makes me question if the general recommendation infrastructure is falling apart and behind. Thank you for making music discovery great for a couple of years π
Touching to have Spotify celebrate the 1-year anniversary of my layoff by demonstrating that they could not, in fact, still do Wrapped just as well without me.
This year it was literally just a group by, a count and a sort. So sad to see people like @glennmcdonald.bsky.social go, Spotify used to be a pioneer now its falling behind.
Luckily at least Every Noise at Once is still online.
I was on the mountain on the first photo last month, four more places to go.
Quite a few repos on their GitHub account, but apart from the feed generator starter kit, nothing related to the actual feed generators.
Would be neat to see the innards.
This also an interesting discussion on if algorithms are needed:
www.reddit.com/r/Mastodon/c...
And here a Github issue on mastodon:
github.com/mastodon/mas...
But AT-Protocol IMO opinion goes much further by separation of thing like data storage (Account portability) and feed algorithms (Algorithmic choice).
Also I only now little about Mastodon and Activity Pub, maybe i should change that.
I totally agree with the "not institutionalized" argument which makes the comparison to HTTP seem off. According to W3C spec ActivityPub, is "a client to server API for creating, updating and deleting content, as well as a federated server to server API for delivering notifications and content."
Wouldnt have found this post without Skyview π«

Disclaimer 2: Ever since Musk bought Twitter or OpenAI transitioned from a non-profit to a for-profit organization, one can no longer rely on the promises of U.S. tech companies and should instead continuously measure them by their actions.
Disclaimer: I support the idea behind the AT protocol. However, BlueSky still has a long way to go. Currently, the provider has a quasi-monopoly on the apps implemented via ATP. Hopefully, they will continue to actively work on promoting interoperability.
Maybe Web 2.0 needs a reboot. We donβt always need to rethink everything entirely β perhaps a freer, more open "Web 2.1" is enough.
However, the AT Protocol could become an open standard for social media β comparable to TCP or HTTP for the classic web. BlueSky would then be like a browser: an application that could eventually be replaced by other providers in the future.
