So I ended up making an elemental character after I have finally recovered from my mental turmoil that I have been suffering from the past few months.

That is exactly how I feel about the furry fandom.
They claim to be all inclusive, welcoming, and accepting, but they don't give a hoot about anyone except the rich furries who get a lot of art, fursuits, and go to cons.
Tbh keeping the stereotype going just further pushes the "pay2win" feeling I and others in the Fandom struggle with
Don't have nearly endless cash for art? Be prepared to be constantly overlooked or outright ignored by a large chunk of the fandom
Not to be that guy but hosting the base furry stereotype as "well off person in tech" is a good way to center it's whitest most upper middle class part
And yank the spotlight off the creative lifeblood of the fandom, which is heavily latin, black, indigenous and working class/poor

Exactly what I've been dealing with too. I keep feeling like I'm blinded by a veil that prevents me from seeing the friends I have, and only makes me see those that ignore me or brush me aside.
It feels a curse, doesn't it? I hate how it keeps us from making social connections.
