OH!
OH!
To say that "AIPAC runs America" is antisemitic is not a defense of AIPAC. For me, it can go to hell. I think we all gotta be mindful of language and demand people be clear.
Friends, if someone is telling you "AIPAC runs America," that's not an assertion. That person is not concerned about money in politics, or Israel trying to steer US military/foreign policy. It might look that way, but the tell is "runs America." That's code for a Jewish conspiracy, ie, antisemitism.
Watch Professor Wolfers' post below. Then read this from September.

How are facts smears?
This was clear from the jump, but the Venezuela invasion going as smoothly as it did, from a pure operational perspective, is going to prove catastrophic in the long run.
To be coldly political: Platner is toast. Susan Collins' campaign knows or will know what Marine policy is on tattoos and will expose his lie. Janet Mills' campaign is probably already on it.
Senator Whitehouse's speech, together with today's piece from @jasonleopold.bsky.social at Bloomberg, should be required watching/reading for everyone. Mr. Leopold was so kind to distribute a gift link:

"AIPAC runs America" = "The Jews run America." If it's not equal, it doesn't mind being close.
If you want reporters to dig into Platner's lies more, share this thread. Make it go viral so reporters can't ignore it.
Capitol Hunters created a document detailing a timeline of events and source material (in the original thread). One source is a Politico report that reveals that Platner's campaign offered a staffer $15,000 to sign a non-disclosure agreement, evidently to keep quiet about his Nazi tattoo.
Capitol Hunters confirms Platner lied about why he could not get back into the Marines in 2009. It was because of his Nazi/antisemitic tattoo. He blamed Marine policy barring sleeve tattoos, but Marine policy grandfathered sleeve tattoos. It barred symbols of hate, which is what the Totenkopf is.
"AIPAC runs the country" is the tell.
22. Iran's defiance might be what Trump had in mind when he reportedly worried about how the sacrifices of war would "look" on TV.
Someone who says "AIPAC runs America" is not someone who makes those distinctions. That's a ball hair away from saying Jewish conspiracy, which is an expression of antisemitism.
I think you are giving the "progressive" in question too much credit.
I do not think it reflects Jewish thought. I agree with you. AIPAC is pro-Israel, not necessarily pro-Jewish. These are nuances, however, that antisemites do not have. They know naked antisemitism would be trouble for them, so they code it. Yes, plausible deniability but I'm not buying it.
25. So the Democrats are united. Maga is divided. The media is uncooperative to say the least. The public is skeptical, even before reporters have begun focusing on the war dead. (Six troops were killed; 60% disapprove.) And thatβs not to mention gas prices going up and stocks taking a hit.
I think we liberals need to talk about the problem of "progressives" who blame the Jews for things. I have not paid enough attention to it, but will in the future.
Religious bigotry in America is so obvious as to be invisible.

When arguments supporting norms of civil society are summarily destained as "politically correct", moral relativism slides into perversion and nihilism. The fabric of society is left in tatters. Those promoting tearing it all down rarely stick around to do the hard work of rebuilding from anarchy.
Happy Friday! Enjoy my piece about how Kristi Noem was disposable to Trump, despite being the saddest booklicker in his Cabinet.
You can destroy your face to please MAGA, ladies, but it doesn't matter. You're still a woman and they don't respect you.

This is from a month ago. The AP reported today that Republicans knew Noem was going to be ousted at some point and tried to get the Democrats to see that eventuality as a concession so the Dems would reopen the DHS. Dems said she's not a concession. She's your liability.
20. Meanwhile, the president has said he should have a say in who the next leader of Iran is going to be, as if he can bully a murderous regime like he bullies white-shoe law firms.
Josh Marshall on Sheldon Whitehouse's speech last night in which the Rhode Island senator connects Trump to Epstein to Russia.

He may be bombing them but heβs actually got a near-zero ability to dictate much to anyone anymore. Heβs a proven liar & breaks treaties & deals daily- every world leader understands this completely now & bakes it in to every move going forward - thatβs why so many arenβt rushing with statements
βMAGAβs fundamental shared quality is a total lack of theory of mind for other peopleβ is a theory that keeps getting validated by reality - look at almost every decision theyβve made in the war with Iran, and how they seem constantly surprised by the unanticipated actions of other parties.
Has this aspect gotten attention from press critics? @froomkin.bsky.social @markjacob.bsky.social @newsjennifer.bsky.social @walshfreedom.bsky.social
All Iran has to do to win this war is hold out until Trump gives us. When he does, he will look profoundly weak, thus giving anyone who's been afraid to fight back every reason to.
