BofA analyst Yuri Seliger noted that while all "Big Tech" players are pouring billions into AI, (only) Microsoft’s business model currently shows the most resilience in maintaining a positive cash-to-spending ratio.
The pressure on Incumbents appears to be mounting.

While Software stocks have seen contracting multiples, when does the same happen to BigTech? What debt load for capex justifies it?
BofA: only Microsoft generating cash flow in excess of capex in FY26
Watch out: CY26 could mark the year when inference becomes a larger workload.

Taiwan Confronts its WWII Legacy
An exploration
I wrote for ChinaTalk about Taiwanese society's attempt to confront its complicated WWII legacy: those who fought under Japan, against the Chinese, as colonial subjects www.chinatalk.media/p/taiwan-con...

Incredible how differently average U.S. citizens view AI compared to boosters.
The Pew Center, OpenAI's usage paper and Kyla did surveys and provide info that's truly quite telling:

After my main account was deemed spam by Bluesky's algorithm and the appeal wasn't even seen by a human I'm not surprised to see this ecosystem in decline.
I see activists on the left have huge followings while most everyone else is less active. Suffice to say that's not how you build an app.

Where are you hosting your blog? You might want to consider Substack. I can't tell if that's Kit or Wordpress.

For the future of work it's a fun paper to think about.
Since late 2022, early-career workers in AI-exposed jobs (think software engineers, customer service reps) have seen a 13% drop in employment, even after controlling for firm-level shocks.

Tesla's Robotaxi Launch was a Scam
Tesla's decline is now inevitable with a highly problematic Robotaxi launch muddled with errors and saftey concerns.
Something has been eating at me for quite some time, the false promises of Elon Musk. I’ll try and be brief today to share some of my concerns #ElonMusk

I'm so tired of Trump's antics with Canada.
Canada and Europe and every other country have all rights to limit American monopolies and their disturbing reach around the world.

Palantir has conflict of interest ties to many of the Billionaires in the U.S. Government. They are building ImmigrationOS that weaponizes AI for mass deportations.
That's an authoritarian use of AI in America that is leading in one direction.

It's entirely possible that a lot of software developers and product managers will be out of a job in 3 to 5 years.
I hope they are planning what they will do in their career pivot?

i keep seeing people say that LLMs are good at search.
NO. WRONG.
You have just forgotten how good search used to be.
Google broke it's own flagship product, and so you are accepting a demented chatbot's half baked gishgallop because we no longer have functional web search.

The trade tariffs with China decimates pricing on everyday goods for the bottom 30% and consumers who are stretched in their finances.
It's basically like a tax for the poor.
Trump is hurting the very voters he claimed to be serving with these policies.

The newsletter Creator economy and YouTube are getting further and further away from actual journalism and reality
Not a fan of what I'm witnessing.
Creators are chasing clickbait and using AI in ways that skew away from facts and any semblance of investigative journalism.

As the US is pulling out of Europe, Russia is getting prepared to invade NATO. This is all fairly obvious if you are following German national security updates.
In the next few years Russia could invade Europe and China could invade Taiwan literally at the same time. Trump is facilitating this.
