"We are not our ancestors" is not gonna yet us through this moment. You better wish you were your ancestors who survived the middle passage, chattel slavery, who consistently revolted, who made ways as maroons. We definitely need to connect with Black legacies of survival for now.

I swear they recognize my car now, because I pull up after work and they all come out of the barn and wait for my son to go check on the garden.
If he doesn't come out to open the gate, they pick at the mesh fencing and their mama (she's a *big* girl) tears it up and lets them in.
We had a pair of turkey vultures show up and try to take over the barn last year, but they were kinda shy, they never came up to the house or anything. the black vultures were like nu uh and they eventually chased them out again
When I say black vultures are curious and friendly birds, I mean it. Our resident flock visits the house and garden daily just to chill. We don't feed them or anything, they lived here before we moved in. Here's Tim (named after the Sorcerer) and this year's fledglings visiting Potatoes.
I would certainly not be the one to write and pitch something like that, but man would it be fun to draw. :D
