I would love to know how the MN Wild organization is going to ask the MN state gov to fund improvements to Grand Casino arena when the MN Wild are the only MN pro sports team not issuing statements of support for their fan community and openly embracing this administration.

I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...

Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.

These are the arrests you’re not seeing β€’ Minnesota Reformer A man shelters alone under the heaters of a south Minneapolis bus stop on a cold January morning, the hood of a grey sweatshirt pulled over his thick dark hair. He unzips his black outer coat and look...

For every ICE arrest that draws a crowd with cameras and whistles, there are an untold number happening quietly when no one is watching.

Math for Knitters Are you tired of avoiding patterns because they don't exactly match your yarn or measurements? "Math for Knitters," by Kate Atherley, is your key to pattern...

I’m short and short waisted and my SO is very tall and lanky. All our clothing needs tailoring. These books make knitting to our unique bodies that much easier. Truly, thank you. 🧢

@kateatherley.bsky.social thank you so much for writing these books. I just received Math for Knitters and I’m feeling much more confident in my ability to adapt a sweater pattern for my next project.

4 U.S. Code Β§ 7 - Position and manner of display

Yeah it’s a federal directive for the US flag to fly at half staff until the 14th for Kirk. US flag code requires all other flags to be lower than the US flag, so everything is half staff until 14th.

"We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our parents, Melissa and Mark. They were the bright lights at the center of our lives, and we can't believe they are gone. Their love for us was boundless. We miss them so much.
"We want everyone to know that we are both safe and with loved ones. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received, and we appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we grieve.
"Our family would like to thank law enforcement for their swift action that saved others and for the coordination across communities that led to the arrest of the man who murdered our parents. We especially would like to thank the officers who were first on the scene to our parents' home and their heroic attempts to rescue our mom and dad.
"Our parents touched so many lives, and they leave behind an incredible legacy of dedication to their community that will live on in us, their friends, their colleagues and co-workers, and every single person who knew and loved them.
"If you would like to honor the memory of Mark and Melissa, please consider the following:
β€’ Plant a tree.
β€’ Visit a local park and make use of their amenities, especially a bike trail.
β€’ Pet a dog. A golden retriever is ideal, but any will do.
β€’ Tell your loved ones a cheesy dad joke and laugh about it.
β€’ Bake something β€” bread for Mark or a cake for Melissa, and share it with someone.
β€’ Try a new hobby and enjoy learning something.
β€’ Stand up for what you believe in, especially if that thing is justice and peace.
"Hope and resilience are the enemy of fear. Our parents lived their lives with immense dedication to their fellow humans. This tragedy must become a moment for us to come together. Hold your loved ones a little closer. Love your neighbors. Treat each other with kindness and respect. The best way to honor our parents' memory is to do something, whether big or small, to make our community just a little better for someone else."

Some people really enjoy it! It just wasn’t our thing. I’m originally from MN and dairy production isn’t very novel for me and my mom, and my partner is lactose intolerant. My energy was pretty low and the crowds were Too Much. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ YMMV. The OG Pronto Pup place up the road was neat though!

Don’t bother:
* Trees of Mystery, specifically the β€œmuseum” unless you want to be reminded of how indigenous peoples were represented by colonial curators in the 60s
* Tillamook Creamery, unless you’re really excited by lines and dairy

High points:
* Oyster farm tour at Hog Island Oyster
* Salmon & lox at Josephson’s in Astoria, OR
* Gracie’s Sea Hag in Depoe Bay, OR (and the taffy shop down the street)
* Harris Beach State Park in OR has the best sunset views
* Founder’s Grove trail in Humboldt Redwoods St Park

We had a few small goals for our trip: find the best chowder, the best salt water taffy, and a good beach for a picnic + flying a kite. We ate our way up the coast and went on several day hikes. It was great premise for a trip and was so much better than I expected.

Avenue of the Giants. It’s a scenic byway and absolutely gorgeous. My partner and I did a SF=> Cape Disappointment road trip with my mom in Sept. The whole trip was incredible. Are you planning on camping or staying in hotels?

Newsletter: We are in the era of the Business Idiot, where middle management has seized power, breeding out true meritocracy and value-creation in favor of symbolic growth and superficial intelligence. This piece ties together everything I've ever written.

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people.

We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like it’s Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.
