Had a great time and really enjoyed our convo!
Had a blast joining @hopeteague.com and Annie on the βInterchangeable White Ladiesβ podcast to talk about breezy issues like nationalism, geographic heritage, and DNA tests.

From our childhood sports broadcasts to the skies above Tacoma - itβs the Goodyear Blimp!
(Is it hanging out near the Puyallup Fair or did it get lost on the way to Lumen Field?)
Sitting by the Snoqualmie River, working on the last chapter of my book. π²βοΈππ¦
What Iβm reading on vacation this week. The first two by writers I already love, and the third by one Iβm reading for the first time.
Or just, like, text me your email address since weβre actual friends in real life and not just social media :)
Itβs not published, but I can email it to you - wanna dm me your email address?
I wrote a long essay about this - your husband is quoted it in. But itβs only about me, not all white people (I donβt think all white people are motivated by World Cup soccer fandom. lol)
The number one reason Iβm thankful my book found a publisher is that now when I email strangers for interviews or information (and subtly mention the publisher) they usually write back.
My latest piece in Pacific NW Magazine. Will probably be my last one of 2025 because I need all the spare time I can find to get my book into my publisher on time by December. Glad to finish up this run with an article about a community-critical place in Pierce County.
I went out to Spanaway and rode an ice bumper car reporting this Seattle Times article. Just the latest example of the high-speed, high-risk ends Iβll go to for a scoop.

My Christmas gift (to myself) arrived!!
Now I gotta wrap these up so my kids can watch me slowly unwrap them Xmas morning because itβs important they know Xmas isnβt just all about them and baby Jesus (itβs about me, too!)
Me kneeling down with six 1st and 2nd grade boys around me listening. They are wearing green jerseys and one is holding a basketball. Iβm giving last minute instructions before our game starts.
Me: βIβve got to just work, parent, and finish my book in 2025.β
Also me: βSure, Iβll coach the boys again this winter.β
I only had to walk eight blocks from my Tacoma home for my latest Pacific NW Magazine/Seattle Times article!

My first longform feature for the Seattle Times is on the cover of todayβs Pacific NW Magazine! Itβs my account of a weekend spent at the Washington coast with a crew of fun-loving Seattle artists celebrating βClamchella.β
Hereβs the piece online: www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-m...
Thanks very much Catherine - definitely am :)
Thanks Sean!
This is me and my uncle Dave in 1988. He died five years later from AIDS. As of this morning, the book Iβm writing about him is now under contract with University of Washington Press.
This morning my 7yo son attempted to draw a nativity scene with the people as animals and the animals as people because, he said, βthatβs what a real artist would do.β
Heβs not wrong, but his finished product was a hot mess.
Article in print look like:
"FIRES BURN AND sparks fly beneath the West Seattle Bridge in South Seattle. Ears ring with the metallic crashing of hammers into smoldering orange steel.β
βI wrote a fun article about Lawless Forge in todayβs Seattle Times (in Pacific NW Magazine).

Are we doing #throwbackThursday on this app? If so, hereβs a Seattle Times/Pacific NW Magazine piece I wrote last year about going sailing for the first time. β΅οΈππ

Reading two memoirs that are (in the chapters Iβm on, at least) both set in Oregon. A weekend trip to Portland probably forthcoming. #books #amreading
Just turned in my first long form feature to the Seattle Times/Pacific NW Magazine. Itβs light and fun β by no means hardhitting β but I really wrote the shit outta it and Iβm excited to see it in print in about a month!
