Ice’s face-heel turn in Sidetracked Part 1 (something I have…never considered an actual spoiler;;;)

I was worried his red flags were way too obvious, but some readers still bought into Ice’s questionable attempt at being a Very Normal Nice Guy™ & were surprised when he spiraled & self-destructed. 😭

there are infinite ways to write the “same” basic story, so it’s a little silly that so many writers worry if their general story idea is too similar to xyz concept that has been riffed on 8274629 times bc people tend to find that concept very compelling even if they’ve seen it 8274629 times already

every once in a while, I’ll go a whole day without thinking about Twitter a single time, then I see someone mention “X” and go through the 5 stages of grief all over again

even sillier is when I see writers worrying if their story idea is too similar to books they haven’t even read (hypothetical books that might have similar concepts/themes to theirs)

you literally cannot copy/plagiarize something you don’t know even exists;;; just calm down & write your book, silly

Someone has to do the job, I suppose, and I hope that most of the people who do enjoy something about it. Personally, I could not. Working as a consumer service phone rep for Nintendo (a company I LIKE) nearly killed me. Working at Walmart or McDonald’s would destroy me.

They say “write what you know”, so I have several characters prone to intrusive thoughts and/or overthinking (some to the point of rumination or spiraling).

Two guys spiraling after each experiences one (1) negative thought is basically what fuels the entire main conflict of Sidetracked series. 💀

maybe I could be the guy who runs around a grocery store fulfilling mobile orders for pickup, but only if I never had to interact with a customer ever

ngl, I feel like the bulk of criticism against aro/ace characters in media is labeling heavily neurodivergent-coded aro/ace characters as negative stereotypes.
