Here is our loan plan as proposed by staff for board adoption under 2 different funding scenarios.
If a funding measure succeeds, BART will use $97M in loan funds to balance our FY27 budget. The loan money is needed for cash flow while we wait for the sale tax revenue to become available in FY28.

βBART was made for people like me who were raised by their city,β she writes. β...he shows up late and he shows up loud, but he shows up for me always, and that just might be the most Bay thing about him.β

The same circumstances are true when it comes to metro systems.
China opened more metro lines in 2025 alone than exist in the entire countries of Russia, UK, or France. Over the past 4 years, China built 2.5x as much metro lines as the US has in total.
Anne Hidalgo's positive impact on Parisian public space has been huge.
But the ultimate significance of her leadership on mobility justice is global: demonstrating what is possible really highlights the commitment of other mayors to convenience for car owners at the expense of everyone else.

Here's a commercial-scale thermal battery (hot rocks!) that is providing heat at 1800C, which is what you need for processes like steel & aluminum.
Industrial heat was one of those "difficult to decarbonize" sectors until, y'know, we tried.
Get in, loser, we're electrifying everything!
I don't want Oakland to lose bus and BART service so I'm heading to today's rally to save transit throughout the Bay.

Ever wonder how BART tunneled under the streets of San Francisco?
Watch this film from our archives. Find the full version on our YouTube page!
Two Calweld oscillating tunnel-boring machines were used to bore twin mile-long tunnels between the Mission Street lines and the Market Street lines.
On the other hand, I've spoken to people who are totally tuned out and don't know what's happening in Minnesota. They vaguely know that ICE shot someone - but shootings kinda happen because you know America.
So... really it's up to you to increase the national cortisol levels even further.
Digital flyer that reads "Book Talk at the Ferry Building." With the Book Passage bookstore logo underneath and the cover of the book If You Want To Win, You've Got To Fight: A Guide To Effective Transportation Advocacy by Carter Lavin" lower. To the left it says Jan 17th 3pm To the right it says "Oakland-based Author Carter Lavin" with an author photo of him (white man, mid-30s, black hair, short beard, sitting, leaning forward, with a short-sleave button down) It says "Please note; unvented KN-95 or higher quality masks required and will be provided" with required underlined. At the bottom it says "FREE Event at the Book Passage book store in the Ferry Building" all super imposed over a sky view of the SF Ferry building -- a long, narrow white building with many arched windows and a clock tower in the center. Trees in a plaza are visible in front of the building and a clear blue sky with treasure island and the Bay Bridge in the background
See y'all this Saturday at the SF Ferry Building for this very special (free) book event -- my first in person book talk of the year.
Thrilled for it to be at the iconic Ferry Building
