I'd be happy to test it out given my recent nvidia upgrade.
Same here, it's just trying to figure out which version Linux is going to meet the needs. Especially for art/graphic design for work but I also want it to be able to handle streaming/gaming.
Sometimes it's just about stepping back, reevaluating yourself, your situation and what you can do to get to where you want to be in life for your self.
You don't have to hold onto the "illustrator" persona to be a creative artist to express it. There are many way's to be creative, even if it's not a visual one.
Whether you choose to fully drop art or leave it alone for a time to pick it back up later will ultimately be your decision. I find your art impressive, but I also don't feel like you should try to hold yourself to something that makes you unhappy either.
If drawing is no longer the "creativity" that speaks to you or your soul, and you feel like you're unhappy with it? You should find a different way of creating that DOES speaks to you.
Based on the current responses I've seen here to your question and your own responses, I think it would be best to stop forcing yourself into art.
Thank you for drawing my Selph. Yours looks adorably nightmarish! β¨
Undersketch of my fan version of Selph-Alternative expression
You actually got my Selph's facial response right.
I had done a silly alt expression of Selph before going with the actual fully opened eyes before painting. What a happy coincidence!
That's more than fine!
Everyone's Selph is a personal expression of their creativity, and I feel honored you'd like the design enough to draw it alongside yours.
...allowing no self-deception. He is both subhuman and superhuman and sees things far beyond our conscious mind."
~Light From the Darkness: The Paintings of Peter BirkhΓ€user, p. 64
"Before we know ourselves, we are already βknown.β The self watches us like a superior observer, as βprivate protection, intimate understanding as an individual judge, an inexorable witnessβ {Apuleius: De Deo Socratis, chapter 16}...
Inspired by Peter BirkhΓ€user's "The Observer". A fan version of Selph (the deleted boss from NiGHTS into Dreams) is in the darkness. They stare and observe. Selph's form is dark with faint highlights around, showing his shape. Gold eyes with night indigo sclera colors stand out.
The Selph
I discovered my new favorite artist, Peter BirkhΓ€user. His painting titled "The Observer" inspired this piece of fan art of my version of Selph.

Though sometimes she wonders if she needs to get Nero his own comfy chair so she can get her favorite chair back.
Alter is content to let her friends come into her home and hang out like a secondary home or host people if the need arises. Nero? He tends to let himself in as he pleases, so Alter's gotten used to his nonsense.
Nero belongs to my husband, who's been getting into Jungian studies. Nero has gotten an update as well. He's still mischievous, but he has those moments where he is just finding a spot to read/draw and snack on dried noodles.
Fan Gen from Engalbaum named Cocoa Alter, finding a visitor sitting in her favorite living room chair. A fan gen named Aeternus Indigo Nero, chilling with a new book, set down his backpack open. Some items like paper, skeches and dice are spilling out. There's a freshly opened ramen snack on top of the backpack. Alter is asking Nero what book he's reading. He responds with "The Red Book" by Carl Gustav Jung
Finding a House guest
My fan gen Cocoa Alter, is finding a visitor in her favorite chair at home. This one is Aeternus Indigo Nero. He's one of the few visitors who tends to make themselves at home in Alter's place from time to time.

#WIP for some fan gen-related artwork.
I'll be posting the full thing later (It's bigger than this preview here), but I really like this headshot of Alter.
Been loving how her hair has been looking with her updated look.

...the heck? I'd say that kind of response is pretty telling if someone is just sharing their art.
You're welcome!
Whichever aspect you choose to apply or not apply to yourself will ultimately give you the answer you might be looking for. I'm only speaking from a freshie in analytical psychology,
For some people, it can be an indication of transcendence or gender. Or perhaps a mental distance and the idea of what you consider the "ideal" man to explore with in storytelling, or there might be some cultural/personal influences. It depends on the individual.
But since we're focusing on the creative aspect of writing, I would say that since you're tapping into that part of yourself, you're using that aspect to be engaged with the active, creative, and intellectual force within your own psyche, and enjoy the results of your creative outlet.
(Keep in mind that symbols/archetypes and their aspects will vary from person to person. All aspects contain both postive/negatives aspects. Humans are complex, and we each have different aspects inside us, be it culture/gender identity/naunces/opinions. )
In my personal findings and studies, it might be that in your creative process, you're tapping into your Animus, which is your unconscious creative partner. The Animus/Anima (The man within the woman and vice versa, the woman within the man.)
I recently got into Jungian psychology and started to study archtypes / symbols. I've also been reflecting on why I also have a lot of my male characters myself in comparison to my ratio of female ones. (I'll be using Jungian terms here, so please bear with me.)

A sketch of an Undead Shadow Priest from World of Warcraft who appears to be happy to see a "Knifey."
Shadow Priest: Nerosh
Husband was kind enough to let me borrow one of his Undead/armored characters from World of Warcraft to help me refresh myself with detailed armor.

I was always wondering what the heck happened. Big oomph on that happening to you, Scotty. But at least you're free to do as you like, rather than being stuck.
