un homme blanc qui sans cesse et par grandeur morale assisterait les autres peuples du monde dans leur marche vers (au choix) le progrès, la paix ou la démocratie. Et comme Macron, Kipling relevait la supposée ingratitude des peuples concernés:
et plus largement les pratiques et discours paternalistes et néo-coloniaux de la France dans ses anciennes colonies.
En réécoutant le discours concerné, je pense à sa filiation directe avec le mythe du "fardeau de l'homme blanc" (poème pro-colonial de Rudyard Kipling publié en 1899):
"Je crois qu'on a oublié de nous dire merci. [...] [aucun gouvernant africain] ne serait aujourd'hui avec un pays souverain si l'armée française ne s'était pas déployée dans la région".

We just discussed this with a class last week and a colleague yesterday!
It was written in 1981. It heralded queer studies in the western academy -- totally peripheralised because of racism! The women of color in the anthology explicitly discussed 'homophobia' in 1981!!!
