I think it's weird to post "everyone here" and "you guys" as if Bluesky were homogeneous.
Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, βI do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.β My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...
This has been an interesting theory but didnβt Judge Boasberg put the nail in the coffin last year?

In this particular fantasy, Mike Pence has apparently made a comeback.
I suppose Instagram was always about pretending to live in a fantasy world, but AI has solidified the product-market fit.

Seems iffy!
New β I spoke to eight trans people in Kansas about the new state law that invalidated their driverβs licenses overnight, whatβs itβs like to live there right now, plus details of two DMV emails exclusively obtained by The Handbasket that shed light on the lawβs chaotic and cruel rollout:
If this Anthropic order stands, itβs going to tear the tech industry apart.

one under-discussed crisis in Silicon Valley is that startups are having to dig ever deeper into the lore of Tolkien to find their names
This is probably happening in San Francisco, too, right?

Pew Research chart on usage of social media app with X ranking around ninth
Letβs all remember that X is a third-tier social media app at best, as measured by usage
This is a huge deal, and the number of people I see pooh-poohing this as just a loss to a supposedly elite group sucks. A) most of the jobs that disappeared were the working-class ones; B) bye bye not just to local coverage but to arts, sports, everything thatβs not tech/biz/politics/opinion/advice
I can't get over this number: in 2007, there were 360,000 newspaper jobs. Now, there are 80,000. "My local paper sucked!" Sure. What sucks even more? The void. "I get all my news from the Guardian!" No, the Guardian doesn't report on your town council, your school board, local cops.
