Growing up playing DnD in the 80s and 90s we always played in the living room. DnD books were meant to roll dice on.
Wasted! We drove to Vegas last year and played 8 straight hours of DnD.
Exactly. Having to set up everything before you can play gets tedious to a kid.
Monocles create such an interesting feel to a character.
Conversations with the 9yo DM:
9yo DM: I really think theater of the mind is best.
Me: What are your reasons?
9yo DM: You can hang out and play on the couch without a table in the way or you can play in the car or on a hike. No need for maps and minis in every game.
Exactly!
The wyrmling said, βOoh! I should figure some of those out.β
Because those combos make encounters more fun?
Have a wonderful birthday Tony!!
I will cut my wifeβs sandwiches but devour mine before the knife can even reach them.
Thatβs valid. But why cut your sandwich at all?
The diagonal cut point makes it easier to dip into soup and eat without making a mess.
DnD plot hook from a 4 year old: an undead fire giant with a flaming top hat and flaming belt buckle is searching for treasure.
Five year ago! It was a blast adventuring with Singe.

Natural Consequences to Actions in TTRPGs
I have a new post up onTTRPGkids about how to build satisfying consequences to player actions in TTRPGs while scaling to the needs of said players (i.e. you may need different strategies for adults vs. tweens vs. little kids lighting things on fire) π₯

It is really quite amazing.
My neighbor rehabilitates injured hawks and falcons and my 9 year old son loves to see them as they get healthy and return to nature.
Sounds like an excellent impulse purchase.
DnD, board games, movies, good food! It was a great day.
Thank you. He always finds a way to make me laugh.
Thank you!
Thanks!
Definitely. That is the best way to spend a birthday.
That would confuse the heck out of me.
The best!
Yes!!
Thank you! Itβs my 50th so we are partying hard today.
I have never had the birthday song sung to me with quotes from LotR interspersed within until todayβ¦
