The R's like to brag about how they've made the U.S. "energy independent," but we still import a couple hundred million barrels of oil annually, and are immediately hit with higher gas prices when imports are threatened. I guess they don't really understand what "independent" means. π

Cover story from The Lancet, one of the world's most prestigious and high-impact general medical journals, that says "The destruction that Kennedy has wrought in 1 year might take generations to repair, and there is little hope for US health and science while he remains at the helm.
The Lancet spells out the case against RFK Jr so clearly.

The Unaddressed Problem With the Pentagonβs AI Dispute
Who will take responsibility for the technology?
A conflict like the one currently escalating between Anthropic and the Pentagon was inevitableβand more are likely to come, @matteowong.bsky.social argues:

If I have to choose between @anthropic.com 's Dario Amodei or the Pentagon's Pete Hegseth, it'd be Dr. Amodei, but I have to admit: the future of war, including #AI, is here, and we are not ready.

It's just mind-boggling to me that we've known for some time that GOS is vulnerable and there is no current alternative, yet have continued to pretend we are not at risk.
Actually, I guess that is typical for our society.

We're fortunate that we can read historical documents from hundreds or thousands of years ago that were stored on paper or clay. Our descendants may not be so lucky with our digital records, unless we start thinking more about long term storage of them.

We keep cramming more memory into our devices and building more data centers to store more data in the cloud, but at the rate we keep producing data, we're still going to run out of room (or out of time, as storage eventually degrades). Time to rethink data storage. π€
