I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.
And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

I've spent over ยฃ750 on private physiotherapy and I'm glad I did... it's like spending money on a career coach. There was no guarantee I'd dance again; I still had to do loads of work even tho I paid him to help; and i could have done it myself by following online tips but on a longer timeline

I've been discharged yesterday from trauma and orthopaedics! I've also just agreed to perform (dance) at a Latin Festival... which may be too soon but I couldn't help myself ๐
When I left academia, my goal was to dance more often so I'm so happy I've spent the last 3 months learning to walk again!

You know, I'm just super happy I listened to a podcast where people didn't wander from the topic of interest to then talk about how we need age verification and that the kids are addicted to phones. You're a breath of fresh air! I look forward to seeing more of your content.

Judge Biery:
โObserving human behavior confirms that for some among us, the perfidious lust for unbridled
power and the imposition of cruelty in its quest know no bounds and are bereft of human decency. And
the rule of law be damned.โ

dear jeff
i hope this note finds you well.
i wanted to ask whether you might be interested
in supporting a large scale project aimed at understanding the nature of our
moral judgments. The last several years of funding from NSF have generated
massive number of projects, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. I have
managed to assemble collaborators working on genetics, neurobiology, behavior,
development, and evolution, targeting normal populations, patients with focal
lesion, individuals with genetic mutations that lead to focal brain damage,
children and animals; using wild and creative technologies, including TMS
(allowing for focal suppression of brain function), behavioral genetics and
imaging, and virtual reality. I don't think this is something that traditional
funding will support as it is very large scale. But it has the potential to
generate terrifically exciting results, with implications for not only basic
research, but clinical applications, politics, law and education. The study
centers around the linguistic analogy to morality that i have been pushing. I am
attaching a sketch of the project, that i sent to the ex-director of NSF, David
Lightfoot. He just stepped down, unfortunately, so who knows what will happen;
lightfoot was very invested in the linguistic analogy as he is a chomskyan by
training!
it is a sketch, but i thought might be useful as a
starting point. i don't know if this is of any interest, but if so, would be keen
to talk further.
best
marc

It's disturbing to see many of the the major figures in moral cognition all over the Epstein files
He was friendly with a huge number of the leading figures in the field, including giving millions to their labs, long after he pled guilty to sexually abusing young girls

Get in. We're messing up Melania's Amazon search results.
This weekend, Amazon is premiering it's $40 million Melania Trump documentary. It already seems to be a flop.
But we're going to take it one step further by messing up Melania's Amazon search results. Specifically, we're going to amplify the paranormal erotic thriller, Melania: Devourer of Men so it ranks higher than her movie.
The book is perfect: it's absurd, the cover is ridiculous, and it's free, so we're not giving Amazon any money.
We need people to:
1. "buy" the book (it's free)
2. Share this post and get other people to buy the book.
That's it. Then we can celebrate as an erotic novel about a bat monster Melania Trump becomes a higher and higher search result on Amazon.
Okay troublemakers, punks, antifa supervillains, and anyone who just enjoys being a petty little shitbird while they fuck up the algorithm of a massive media corp. Here's your assignment for the weekend. Get on it and spread the word.

Bridget the cat infiltrates the 'Abbey Road' cover shoot and becomes THE definitive fifth Beatle.
THREAD.
My parents' cat Bridget vanished. As the weeks dragged on they became ever more worried, so to distract himself my dad began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up at some of art & music's most important moments.

This is so anti democratic I donโt even know where to start.
What a depressing, elitist, and almost quasi authoritarian way to view politics.
