@a_holmstrom I hope you can find a form in which PeakMath and the RH Saga can continue. I wish you and the team the very best. What you did was one of the highlights of 2023 for me.
I'm pretty much just over on Bluesky now. Find me there or ask for an invite code.
Also, please join Bluesky. You're one of the people I'd most miss if I quit Twitter/X :-)
@NickMilo congrats on 200K YouTube subscribers! I finally got going on the channel for @DigitalTolkien and just hit my first 1K subs. I wanted to thank you for being one of the people who (along with @AliAbdaal) most got me thinking about starting a YouTube channel!

Taking a break this evening from my usual marking up of Tolkien in TEI to marking up Bach's Goldberg Variations in MEI in preparation for @sarahjeanm and my course next month on the piece!
Heading home after a wonderful Oxonmoot during which I not only spoke but finished and submitted the dissertation for my MA in Corpus Linguistics at Lancaster!
I'm running a course on Bach's Goldberg Variations in October with @sarahjeanm! It's confirmed to run and more are welcome: https://blackberry.signumuniversity.org/space/modules/iteration/859/
@and_nini any tips when MAT generates empty results files with no error message?
@ElenLeFoll do you have any public code that maps the MFTE output codes to Biber tags or otherwise calculates the dimension scores for either Biber (1988) or @jesse_egbert's from Egbert (2012)?
I need to remind myself this dissertation is not my last word on the topic, merely my first.
Lots more work to do post-dissertation but it is interesting the frequency of some of these trend one way as you go above five words but then start changing direction once you above 50 words.
As a side inquiry to my dissertation, I wondered the effect of utterance length on the relative frequency of different POS in direct speech. The results (done for Lord of the Rings, of course) were partly expected and partly intriguing.
Quick image search confirmed the guy crouching in the millimeter wave scanner was seven-foot-tall Jonas ValanΔiΕ«nas
Awaiting my arrival home was Big Kantor and Little Kantor. IYKYK
PS are you in the Boston area now @KoineGreekcom?
My team build a site a few years ago called got14me to help with requesting and sharing invite codes. Maybe now would be a good time to bring it back!
Next time someone over six foot complains about air travel: I was just in the security line with the Lithuanian basketball team.
One fellow passenger described this as when German thoroughness trumps German efficiency.
I need more of my corpus linguists on the sky site. Hit me up if you need an invite code.
Hasnβt changed in six years: a dream a couple of weeks ago, a nightmare last night. Only change is Heathrow is now much more like Singapore.
With @VikingurMusic releasing a new recording of the Goldberg Variations on October 6th, it's the perfect time to do a fun course on them with me and @sarahjeanm

I am so excited that another music-related class with me and @sarahjeanm is a candidate for October in @SignumU's SPACE program. If you're interested in Bach, especially if you're interested in the Goldberg Variations, check it out:...
