Where once I saw kings, gods, icons of caring and romance, now I only see fallible human men.
Though I suppose you'd be living as one of them now.
Not to say I am without flaw or damage, but I've never really lived ordinarily. Never truly been human, neither.
And I don't know where that leaves me.

And get outta here with the argument that she "revived vinyl". The indie and alternative artists of the 2000s and 2010s revived it. And they maybe had two variants.
It was a communal effort.
I am not saying she's untalented, though there is much I don't personally like. I'm saying she could be a more interesting artist with more cohesion.
Part of me thinks she makes songs that are sometimes cringy to feed the image of her being an underdog.
Making these albums with non-cohesive narratives also invites creative laziness. If she said in no uncertain terms which songs were about joe or matty or john or harry, people would soon realize she makes songs about the same men with nearly identical messages.
She could've had these albums be about specific exes, but no, she has to make it vague and give the illusion of openness and vulnerability.
And sure, it is her prerogative to be as open or closed as she wants to be, but there seems to be a kind of sick fulfillment of misdirection and guessing.
I can only truly enjoy Taylor Swift's albums when I perform surgery on the tracklists to make them narratively cohesive.
And as an artist who makes vulnerable albums about specific people from my past who hurt me in some way, I am endlessly aggravated with her "easter eggs" and vagueness format.

I often wonder how many consider with grace and acceptance that they will die. No fear or obsession about how it'll happen. Most living intelligent beings will never coalesce into the same constellation of traits but once in infinity.
