Went to run club. Sideways rain and wind and mud and hills, in the dark. Spooky, but great fun. Also no race wankers, which is what any local road run would have involved. Iβd call that a result!

I can absolutely promise you, as someone who lives within earshot of the wretched thing, Cheltenham Festival is at no risk of being woke any time soon www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/m...
On this women's day I wish that every woman feels valued. Respected and empowered. Your dreams deserve wings. Your voice deserves endless appreciation..keep rising and inspiring the world with your strenth and your spirit. Happy Women's day
Here's to every girl and woman who is and will be continuing to fight for equality and dignity for everyone.
Happy International Women's Day!
kill the imposter syndrome in you head because not only is there someone out there doing it worse than you, they're also using chat gpt to do it
Anyways.
Good luck! Hope you have loads of fun doing it!
Congrats! I also apparently got a course PB this morning. The RD made some nice comments about IWD tomorrow and this guy next to me started banging on about how sexist it was to have a day for women. Several women in front of him all turned round and glared at him. Hilarious.

Iβm not going to be even slightly humble about this. Where did that come from?? Fastest time on this course??? After 3 months of not really pushing it??? HOW??!! #parkrun

This is so Cheltenham. Someone clearly objected to the swear word but not the general sentiment. And indeed, who would want to?
Been for a swim. My shoulder has graduated out of the slow lane back into the medium one. Hurrah! Celebrated by going and sitting in the steam room for half an hour after. Ready for the weekend now π
I've just heard an ice cream van for the first time this year #summerisicumenin
Quality not quantity :)

10k first thing. Felt fantastic, and made me realized how much Iβve missed being able to get out over the winter #runchat
QueerAF newsletter text that reads: Another study has found new evidence that Trans+ athletes have little competitive advantage, concluding there is no evidence βto justify blanket bansβ. A comprehensive study of over 5,000 Trans+ athletes, has found that trans women likely do not have athletic advantages over cisgender women after undergoing hormone therapy. Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Researchers found that there was no evidence "to justify blanket bans" and called for policies to "remain dynamic, guided by evolving evidence and ethical imperatives"
Taking a moment to be grateful that I ran 4 miles yesterday then spent the afternoon sanding a cupboard, and my shoulders feel completely normal. Just as the weather gets nice, too. Going to put some miles in this week (in a sensible, not too much too fast way, obviously :D )
No #parkrun for me today, my run club are celebrating our first birthday so we're having a group run then a pub lunch. Happy #parkrunday to those who have been out this morning, and especially the volunteers :)

Itβs been a long week. I think Iβve earned this
Some actual good news in the news this morning. Well done Hannah Spencer (she needs to get on Bluesky!) and the @greenparty.org.uk love to see a bit of #hopenothate winning πͺ #ukpolitics

Made it to my first proper
Club run since my shoulder issues began. Went ok but my goodness Iβve lost so much fitness. No pain though which is the main thing π #runchat
100% this
Hands up if you'd never heard of Gorton or Denton three months ago but will be glued to what's going on there at the end of the week πββοΈ

Did my first #trust10k this morning at Woodchester. Knew I would walk some of it but actually it really was just the bad hills. That felt awesome - muddy but sunny and very scenic. I think #nationaltrust knew I was coming when they put this tortoise signs up though π #runchat @nationaltrust.org.uk
Yes. And I've done half marathons before - but I've had a shoulder problem all winter so haven't been able to train. I do like a 10 mile though; it's a nice distance
Am supposed to be doing the Gloucester Half 4 weeks tomorrow. In a rare moment of realism I've just transferred to the 10k distance. It'll still be slow, but feels manageable :) #runchat
No, seems fine. The hill halfway round showed me how much fitness Iβve lost though!

Another sunny #parkrunday. Working my way round local ones Iβve not done yet, today I went to Newent. Super friendly, and surprisingly traily (it looks like it will be three laps round playing fields - itβs not!). Am glad I wore speedgoats (not that I was speedy π€£) #parkrun
I was 17, on my first holiday without my parents. Went with friends; we went for a drink afterwards and spent hours debating it. Mildly nostalgic for that summer now π₯Ή
Itβs grim. The whole town gets taken over by it and itβs miserable. My son walks to school and sees people drunk and vomiting in the park nearby. At 3 in the afternoon. But itβs fine by the council because it brings money in. Sigh. And most years thereβs at least one dead horse. Just horrible

Just seen the first ad for race week. March has sneaked up on me. Time to plan a week of hibernation for when my little town gets taken over by drunken peaky blinders cosplay wannabes pissing in the street and leering at people so they can watch horses having a miserable day. Ugh. #cheltenham
