I never played OG, but I can totally see this perspective. But also, ignorance is bliss, and for me, the remake never dragged.
I also think the acting and performance capture in remake elevates the material and make the subtext much more accessible for the everyday person.

Avowed is interesting. It feels like a game designed 10 years ago, and if you look at the production timeline, that's almost true.
It won't be as appreciated now because its design isn't old enough to be seen as a nostalgic throwback like Pillars, but the future might view it more positively.
