I know I've probably got some Stockholm syndrome living in the AWS world, but what sensible changes would you or others suggest here without compromising on security?
Providing CF templates in the console would help, but that isn't a silver bullet by itself. Better AWS docs are also welcome ofc
Anyone have a lead on how to build or buy a backyard ammonia generating system? I've got a few thousand free kWh of solar energy in the sunny months, infinite water, and a few acres of orchard to fertilize, but everything I find online for "small" ammonia generation is still large farm-scale.
#reInvent going well so far by my standards. None of the announcements have bulldozed my 2025 roadmap with mandatory surprise work yet!

With proper clothes it isn't much of a problem. Thermal innerwear is the key piece that most people overlook, and it keeps you *very* warm even below zero. Just protect the other parts with wool or other warm material (socks, gloves, hat/neck gaiter/scarf/balaclava/etc) and you are good to go.
Working for an AWS partner is exhausting sometimes. A significant percentage (often a majority) of our roadmap is lost to keeping up with the ever-changing compliance/compatibility requirements AWS decrees just to keep the lights on. Woke up to another big one this morning and had to vent a bit...

RED ALARM on H5N1. Data dump late last night from the BC teen shows that the sequence has picked up the necessary mutation needed for adequate transmission among human hosts. It’s got PB2 E627K. The same mutation that 1918 Spanish influenza had. We’re going to have a pandemic.
Buckle up.
It's definitely hard to stay physically active as an IT guy, but the data in this study is certainly some good motivation. That bottom quartile is basically a death sentence.

I'll start off here on bsky with some progress pics of my #homestead since I got here a couple years ago. I'm working to provide #foodsecurity for my family as best I can given the uncertainty of future commercial ag. The goal is 20 fruit/nut trees and >1000 sqft of new #garden space per year!
