Being a good scientist means being able to look at a complex system & make sense of it, without buffing it so smooth you lose truth.
Complex systems are confusing. The data is sometimes messy. Over-simplifying by putting things in boxes (or- ahem- binaries) is doing a bad job of understanding it.

1/8. This week I had a few different conversations with scholars who, in the face of the attacks on science and institutions of learning in the U.S., are wondering what to do. One suggestion I have is: keep doing your work. It matters in and of itself. Why do I say that? A few reasons.
What's the best way to introduce yourself to Bsky? Sharing a fav, new paper!

Children's media use is rising, leading to concerns it impacts their language development. I argue that instead of focusing on "how much" screen time kids have, we should "how" it is being used.
