The Florida Department of State Division of Elections is perpetuating VOTER SUPPRESSION. I did not realize it, but they recently have ruled that INACTIVE VOTERS (ones who have not voted in as few as two federal election cycles, e.g., 2022 and 2024) are INELIGIBLE to EITHER sign a ballot initiative (e.g., for marijuana) or to sign a petition for a candidate to get on the ballot instead of paying a fee. This ruling has it completely backward. Inactive voters should be REINSTATED to the active voting rolls when they sign a petition, not discouraged from participating in the political process. They are also, in this process, just making it that much harder for any citizen initiative to reach the ballot and for candidates who are not independently wealthy to qualify for the ballot. OUTRAGEOUS.

While I don't doubt the value of such a degree in our region, it seems more designed to placate political constituencies worried about the loss of USFSM in a potential merger than to augment the existing liberal arts curriculum. /2

Yesterday, those who teach Intro to Sociology at Florida colleges (as opposed to universities) received a ready-made curriculum from the state and were ordered to teach it.
Yes, you read that correctly. The *state* is enforcing a curriculum on college profs, complete w/ the following restrictions:
