You may well be right. The problem I see is people who aren’t totally racist being uncomfortable with lots of foreign looking people. How do we get them on board and allay their largely unfounded fears. Even Johnson recognised we’d be stuffed without immigrants to fill vital jobs lost to Brexit.

As I said, Cameron precipitated this prior to Johnson.
The evil & stupidity took hold long before the blond buffoon.
Those who know the cost of everything but the value of nothing are a grave threat to us all.
Our standing rests on what we do for others.

It isn't just that - we expended time, money & resources to seek peace & aid other countries.
To enable others.
It wasn't simple altruism. It had real benefits to us as a nation.
That was torpedoed by Cameron.
The thinking from 2010 onward was simply backward.

And yes, I did look at Calvin's Wikipedia page.
He was awarded the Air Medal by the President of the USA in recognition of "meritorious, gallant & distinguished services during coalition operations in Afghanistan"

Earlier, @mrjamesob.bsky.social had the Labour MP Calvin Bailey had on.
That man talked real sense & actually gave me a new view - that the Trump regime wants to destroy the Iranian ballistic (not nuclear) missiles so he can pull back from the Middle East.
Very impressive.

I'm not convinced it was, Jim.
It escalated massively after Brexit & the loss of the Dublin agreement, but the very people who created the issue then used it for social engineering.

Side note.
The caller, Bulama Bukati from the Bridgeway Foundation,on @mrjamesob.bsky.social today was utterly brilliant.
Gobsmackingly so.
It was a long segment but deserves being put up in full.
(Was at about 11.15am if you look for it on catch up)

Incidently, if the government had committed to clean air in schools & hospitals plus proper masking in health settings?
We would be recovering as a people far better, with less working lost to illness and less demand on health benefits.
Immigration is a distraction.

People have tasted some sanity again - not just on here but out in the real world too.
In the US, the inevitability of Trump crushes spirit. The cruelty of those supporting & under him is demoralising.
But it is not inevitable.
A taste of sanity & accountability is desperately needed, though.

The US is no different, just on a bigger scale.
There is some hope though.
Brexit happened. But the majority in the UK now wish it hadn't and would gladly reverse it.
The CONSTANT coverage of it has died, even though the media is Hell bent on pushing ReformUK.
It just doesn't cut through.

6 years ago I called the UK government & those who pushed Brexit the "corrupt cabal".
It was crystal clear that a group wanted to seize control of things by destroying the existing ones.
The covid corruption confirmed it further.
But many ignore it. Deliberately.

Why the urgency? Why the constant chaos?
Because the aim is to break the US system completely & ensure they have control of it.
EVEN if they are ousted from political power - although they don't intend losing control of that, either.
Politics is beholden to power - especially in the US

No, it is not too high.
Extreme reduction, for the nation, is self harming as it will cost us, financially.
On a human basis, it is unnecessarily cruel. It will also cost us dearly.

Quick Question:
Even if you do believe that immigration is too high (questionable), do you think that the current approach being taken by the Labour government towards immigration is appropriate?
If yes, why?
If no, also why?

Trump - and those backing him - have no allegiance to the USA or its citizens.
Minnesota is ample evidence this is true.
The Trump machine cares only about money and control, no matter where that is located.
The real concern is the many who enable him.
And will continue once he is gone.

Trump is like an icebreaker - the perfect tool to smash through any sanity against him. Utterly devoid of morals.
He has chosen those around him to be similar, but not a threat to him.
Russian oil is up 30% as a result of the attacks on Iran - so Putin is better able to fund his war.

This morning @mrjamesob.bsky.social highlighted that the multitude of false reasons for the attacks on Iran are to avoid accountability.
To scotch any chance of it ever happening.
But the real question is why he is allowed to do so by those around him.
The answer is oil & financial control.

No one is blaming the Conservative government who acted unlawfully under British laws
And that is down to our highly partisan media landscape
So keep those critical thinking skills sharp when you see headlines like this!
Watch out for the red flags and ask all the right questions!

News articles report on compensation awarded to migrants after their phones were seized
The Sun - More than 70 boat migrants awarded £500K in compensation after phones were seized in decision blasted as ‘farcical’
The Express - Outrage as small boat migrants given £500k payout after ‘human rights breached’
The Telegraph - Small boat migrants awarded £210k after border agents seized their phones.
GB News - Illegal migrants handed £6.5K each in compensation for phones seized while crossing Channel, paid for by YOU.
Daily Mail - The lawyers spending YOUR cash to fund asylum seekers, travellers and terrorists: Firm run by millionaire human rights lawyer wins battle for small boat migrants to get £500k of taxpayers’ cash.
You would never guess from these headlines 👇 who was actually to blame for the compensation payments.
If you read the comments, you'll see people blame Starmer, Labour, the asylum seekers, and obviously the "European" judges (who had nothing to do with it!).

It wasn't just unlawful and in breach of both ECHR laws and data protection laws.
It was cruel.
Which, unfortunately, is so often the point these days

Family photos
Means of contacting your loved ones
Documentation that supports your asylum claim
Medical documents
Contact details of people who might support you
And you arrive in the UK, and your phone is seized and never returned to you
That happened to hundreds of people

These kinds of comments are just another layer to the highly skewed reporting of these stories.
It deflects from the Tory government, who are solely to blame for the compensation payouts, and persuades the Readers that asylum seekers and/or European judges are somehow at fault
