I wonder what the histogram of xG/shot for each team could tell us about their schemes. For example I bet we would see a bimodal split on the Sabres PP where they have a fair amount of rush chances with high xG and then a bunch of cycle chances with really low xG.

I don't think the model is always right, and I do think in this particular case it's missing context like Schenn's playoff experience (which this team desperately needs) and Stanley's physicality (which this team also needs), but based on counting stats and xG, they are objectively bad players.

And according to his model, it has. Like Dom Luszczyszyn, Micah has a model that he's built with love over years, and tends to trust its results. If he said "my model says this deal sucks but I disagree", that would be a bit silly.
