YOU decide when you're done with it, and what you learned from it, and what bits will carry through to your next work. So in the end, something I once thought of as a failure became a foundation for doing a lot better in the future. Not everything gets its flowers right away. Give it time.

I made a webcomic back in the day and not a lot of people knew about it before I had to stop doing it (life, health) and honestly, even though it never took off, somewhere along the line I got a much healthier idea of "working out" and realized you get to keep sharing the art you do forever >

Image is two graphics. On the left: A book cover with a black muddy background. The title Bloodbound is in stark red lettering, as is the author name in the bottom right corner, Lily Flower. Two fangs hang from the vowels in the word Bloodbound. A painting of two women embracing, both with long hair and pale skin is centered on the cover. One woman has a breast exposed. She hangs onto the other woman with her arms around her neck. They are both looking to the side.
On the right: Red text that reads "Faine Monroe may not understand whatβs happening to her, but she does know two things:
1. Vampires are real.
2. The vampire Verris might be able to save her.
She uses the only tools she has at her disposalβher body, her bloodβto make a pact with Verris for information, for protection, for her life. Now, all she has to do is survive. Read for free: Https://linktr.ee/lilyflowerbooks."
What does it mean to become something new? Whether Faine likes it or not she's going to find out. Read Bloodbound and explore messy lesbian relationships, vampires, and what happens at night.

I don't care how many books you read. 1 or 100. Doesn't matter. What matters is how you synthesize that information and apply it to your art. I'm a slow reader. I get through maybe 10 books a year. I also go outside, watch birds, talk to strangers, manage the horrors, write my own books, and live.

Every time that "DO AUTHORS HAVE TO READ" discourse comes around I am at peace. It cannot harm me. Yes, they should read, but most importantly they should find balance between reading and living, incorporate one into the other. Have experiences. Those are just as important as seeing them told.

We urgently need to address the fact that queer media has been decimated over the last year. Them has been sold. NBC Out dissolved. INTO shuttered. At a time when they are needed most, most queer and trans journalists have no platform or income.

A graphic with a green floral wall background. At the bottom is a wood desktop. On top of the desk are a stack of old books on either side of the typewriter. The typewriter has a paper sticking out of it with black text reading βqueer book submissions openβ and a black line underneath it. At the top of the graphic is the Rainbow Crate and Rainbow After Dark logos. Under the logos it reads βCalling all authors!β in white text with a black outline. Under this it says βSubmit your book for consideration in RC or RAD through the link in our bio or on our website!β in gray text with a black outline.
π Calling all authors! We are looking for authors who want a special edition of their book included in Rainbow Crate, Rainbow After Dark, or as a special edition set!
We are especially looking for trans, nonbinary, aromantic, asexual, and intersectional stories. π§΅

Hey Iβd love to fill something like this out but I donβt want to tell Google in particular how I find new erotica/what/who I like and share this information through forms. Have you ever considered using a less invasive survey like cryptpad?

screenshot of patreon's payouts page
reminder when you're doing your taxes, the number patreon is putting on your 1099 is the gross and they DO NOT exclude all the money they took from you in fees. you need to deduct that yourself as business expenses. an easy ("easy") way to do that is to download your earnings by month

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
