Random Texas history. The runoff required when no primary candidate gets at least 50% was out in place to stop impeached former governor James Ferguson (who resigned & argued the Senateβs ban on holding office didnβt apply to him) when he ran against multiple progressive candidates in 1918. ποΈ

Put a little spreadsheet together. This is Talarico margin vs Hegar margin in 2020. Tracking pretty close on average but lots of variance (small counties). If you weight counties by number of votes expected, Talarico is running about 3 points ahead of Hagar.
