"It's pissing people off": Older Dems are sick of hearing about "generational change" "I have no idea why this is the year to write this story, except that Joe Biden was old."

Miss me with the geriatrics complaining about having to defend their seats when they’re clearly not meeting the moment. No patience for this shit. www.axios.com/2026/03/06/h...

I think there are lessons in here for how news outlets market themselves and manage their employees’ public presentations, as well.

Everyone thinking about building progressive power in the United States should be following @amandalitman.bsky.social. Her ideas and insights are consistently fresher and more original than the conventional wisdom that comes out of the strategist/consultant class.

"the staples baddie" being the early hero of 2026 is just so on point

What the Staples Baddie should teach us about the future of Democratic politics The fight for the future of our party is not about moderate vs progressive -- it's about authentic vs artificial.

"In the age of AI slop, short attention spans, and fragmented media diets, it is nearly impossible to manufacture authentic marketing that actually grabs attention in a way that matters. All you can do is spot it, encourage it, and empower it."

The affordable-housing crisis is a national phenomenon: Nearly half of all renters across the country are now considered β€œrent burdened.” But it is also a generational phenomenon. About half of the young participants in a recent New York Times/Siena poll said their primary concern was affordable housing β€” and that they worried about it more than every other expense item combined, including retirement, health care, education, bills, transportation and food. In 2014, the median age of a first-time home-buyer in the United States was 31. Last year, it reached a record high of 40.

Property ownership has long been viewed as a pillar of American wealth generation, but to an increasing number of young Americans, the notion of ever owning a home has become pretty much inconceivable. This is especially true of young Americans who live in New York City, where the median apartment sells for close to $800,000. One way to look at Mamdani’s rise β€” and, in turn, Cea Weaver’s β€” is as the coming-of-age of a generation that identifies not with owners but with tenants. β€œMy generation does not see homeownership as an attainable thing,” Weaver told me when we met for the first time in January at City Hall.

If you’re a New York City parent of a 2022 or 2023 baby, you probably can’t look up (or down at your phone) without seeing Mayor Mamdani’s face over the last six weeks.
He was everywhere. Doing adorable press conferences with preschoolers, building snowmen with kids after the blizzard, partnering with influencers, making videos in imperfect but well-intentioned Spanish with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and advertising across LinkNYC kiosks, ferries, and in the backs of cars across the city.
Days before the Feb. 27 deadline, reports of robo-calls directly from Mamdani swept through the parent group chats as people were reminded to sign up for 3-K or pre-K before it was too late.
This marketing blitz β€” combined with aggressive on-the-ground outreach and community engagement β€” wasn’t just for show. It was instrumental to the mayor’s goal of achieving universal child care, and further proof that in 2026, politicians being good communicators is a necessity.

New from me in the @nydailynews.com: Dismiss politicians as "influencers" at your own peril -- @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social's 3K/preK enrollment push shows how good communication is fundamental to good governance. www.nydailynews.com/2026/03/06/h...

Millennials coming to power to deliver on the promises boomers broke is 🀌🏻. Many of us were raised to believe in the American dream. And, when we found out it was a lie, became disillusioned. But, we can make the American dream real. Our parents gave us a moral clarity they themselves often lack.

They showed up. They put in the work. They WON. πŸ”₯

Massive congrats to our 2026 endorsees who crushed their primaries and are officially on to the general election.

Next stop: November.

With 13 of our 20 contested races called, at least 8 @runforsomething.net candidates in TX either won outright, moved to run offs, or moved on to the general yesterday. Hell yeahhhhhh.

The right candidate can make a long-shot race competitive - but finding the "right" candidate starts long before election day. (Think: Years, not just months.) Invest now get more leaders who reflect their communities in all 50 states. runforsomething.net/donate

Looking at the TX turnout numbers - seems like investing over the long term to build a deep, diverse bench of authentic values-driven leaders who can effectively communicate pays off big time. Really proud of every @runforsomething.net candidate and alum on the ballot yesterday.

There's been a lot of debate within the Democratic establishment about what rhetoric to use via ICE.

Well, an incumbent doesn't lose by 48 percentage points very oftenβ€”and her vote on collaborating with ICE was the defining issue here.

By the way, Democrats have now flipped 27 legislative seats in Trump 2.0.

Republicans are still stuck at zero.

Even in 2017-18, the GOP managed to flip a few. This time, just a goose egg, despite several good chances.

Anyway, what's happening in state legislative primaries in North Carolina rn should have everyone thinking differently about elections this fall -- yes, November is v far away but y'all people are maaaaaaaaaaad at what these MAGA creeps keep getting up to and also at everyone who aids and abets

I suspect that building a deep bench -- even in hard to win states -- will pay off. Just a hunch!

And of course, so impressed by and proud of our other alum in the race, @jasmineforus.bsky.social, who never stops fighting for what's right. Can't wait to see the energy she brings out on the trail through November.
