Yay! I saw a Swallow today. In Leeds. Not this one.#spring
That'll be the same Quakers that won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1947 and basically invented non-violent protest. Now a threat to the state, apparently. π
Spring has come to my neck of the woods today #Meanwood
I use the brilliant @inaturalist.bsky.social app to log and identify wildlife sightings, as do nearly 5m other users. There are now 250m images of more than 500k species, but only one photo of this beetle, Trex soridatus, and I took it. In my small world I am pathetically proud. π€΄

Any freelance #bookkeepers out there fancy helping out a new charity in Leeds with its finance? A few hours a month for Leeds Museums and Galleries Development Trust. If you know about gift aid thats an added plus.
Happy to see that the funding - that was agreed (but apparently not budgeted for) by the previous government - being reconfirmed by the current Government for the National Poetry Centre and British Library North. Top projects in Leeds. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... @britishlibrary.bsky.social
Great news!
We asked lots of people about this in Leeds. The subsequent report about it is here. Personally I want my public art to be more interesting, challenging even, than the figurative representations of (mainly) dead people which I find quite dull. democracy.leeds.gov.uk/ieDecisionDe...
Yay! First run in nearly a year after insertional achilles tendinopathy π. Its amazing what a retrocalcaneal bursa injection, having my Kagar's fat pad stripped (!), and doing 5,445 eccentric calf raises can do.
In our year long survey of bird communities in the urban river corridor known as Meanwood Valley in Leeds we recorded 53 bird species.
Magpie chilling in the snow
Yeah, except that I wonder if the value of gongs for the people power champs is enhanced - for them - by standing on the same pedestal as the celebs they admire??
If you have a few minutes to spare...
Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Today I shall be making the roast tomato soup that my dad used to make on Christmas Eve, and also hoovering.
Delighted to see this account. I used to write its folk/roots column, still have a few copies in the attic. π
I so hope this isn't true. Undermining all the amazing people who work for LCC by association. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I live on the dark side.
Don't become a bookkeeper! Virtually the only english work with three consecutive double letters.
Mexican President Sheinbaum Pardo's letter to the U.S. president-elect, this time en inglΓ©s for the monolingual. π
(It took some searching, too many in the Anglosphere are very busy only quoting pieces, picking it apart to make passive aggressive points.)
still here today
Good afternoon π
Good morning from Arkengarthdale. No #bluesky here
so you are! that looks great
My 1st house was a back-to-back too. In Harehills. It was fine.
More schemes would be good, maybe at a smaller scale than these projects. Hmm....
I lived in shared rented houses well into my 20's. Loved it. Then went all nuclear-family for three decades. Also good. But where's the model enabling friends to return to a community living set up later in life? ποΈ
