in many instances, the cost to convert the space to be habitable residences starts to approach the cost to just tear down & rebuild as dedicated residences to it ends up being easier to leave it sitting empty, both in absolute terms (i.e. physically) & in terms of getting the money for it.

Nonprofit “affordable housing” providers showing up to testify against Pause Eviction Saves Lives is just further highlighting the way in which nonprofits & foundations have completely failed to meet this moment. This is why we need actual social safety nets, not the Nonprofit Industrial Complex.

The “conflict“ in Iran *IS* a war.
It is a war of choice.
It is warfare without conscious.
It was unprovoked.

And I’m sick and tired of people suggesting & implying the only tragedies herein are that US Service Members have died. The people of Iran are innocents in this conflict!

The Constitution is clear: Congress decides on war. When a president uses military force without authorization and Congress stays silent, they are abandoning their role as a co equal branch of government. War is the most serious power our government has. Shame on the U.S. Senate today.
