I feel like people think "birds are dinosaurs" is a weird fun fact that is "technically true" but I don't know how to emphasize that there are tens of thousands of species of theropod dinosaur on the planet with us right now. People keep them AS PETS.

Really taken with Haolong dongi, out today from Jiandong Huang, Pascal Godefroit and team. Just submitted news article on it. An iguanodontian with abundant hollow spikes across the neck and body, projecting from among conventional basement scales, and with rows of plate-like scales along the tail.

Well, in the end I decided to make my own reconstruction of Spicomellus, the trendiest dino right now because… well, because it’s just amazing. What an incredible animal. And what a challenge it was to model it
A barrage of fish-shaped reptiles dive into water spotted with clouds of ink fired from their squid-like prey. Both reptiles and cephalopods dart this way and that, one ichthyosaur catching the surface of the water with its dorsal fin.
