Exactly! It’s not even just a judgment on a game’s quality. It’s a judgment on its desire to be a game and do what games are designed to do.
If a game isn’t concerned enough with maximizing shareholder value through longevity and continued playerbase growth, why would I even bother?
I want to be mad Skyrim isn’t higher, but I really can’t. Mass Effect 2, really the whole trilogy, is so deserving. And while TLOU isn’t like my favorite, and I chafe at you saying it tells a more nuanced and mature story than TWD, it really is a gen defining game.

Minishoot' Adventures originally released in 2024 to rave reviews, so I'm not gonna pretend to be an authority and say, "Oh yeah, those reviewers were right." But they were. Fun game.
