I don't know if you're aware but there is a prequel they've now remade, and these games are based off of a hidden ending in the original Drakengard, made by the same creator

I will say about Nier- I couldn't recommend it enough as its one of my favorite series of all time, but it's definitely not for everyone necesarily, I still really recommend it if you enjoy story driven existential philosophical bs ♡
