I've always been a sucker for a fall from grace type story and character and knowing how Sabriel's story begins and where it ends and the moments between are definitely cards I'll be holding onto for a while.

The Ulthari who went in that Sarcophagus used to be a bright-eyed, happy, loving person. Total golden retriever energy. What will come out ... Gods only know. Nothing good, nothing happy, nothing whole, that's for sure.

He just strip mines these worlds of their magic and knowledge and it's never ever enough. The more prime Sabriel remains in the Amber Sarcophagus, the more all these different splinter Sabriel's live out their lives in other worlds the more he fractures mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

Sabriel is a slave to knowledge and ambition and constantly rejects happiness and human connection in favor of magical perfection. He's a hollow, miserable, empty being and the more worlds he explores the lonelier and hollower he becomes. He's never around long enough for relationships to matter.

So when Sabriel finishes his ritual to enter the Infinite Corridor, a realm between realms that connects the dreamscapes of all realities, he briefly sees a doorway that shows him his future with Queen Tevildo and their daughters. He hesitates and reaches out for a moment before turning away.

I always recommend Beyond the Brick. While there are some HP builds on the channel, it's mostly large builds and convention tables. Lot of castle builds, WW2, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, all kinds of interesting stuff. Got a pretty snazzy Animal Crossing island build for 8 or 9 months ago.

So that coupled with the fear just leads to increasingly stupid levels of "I can do no wrong" type behavior.

I've seen firsthand the lengths people will go to avoid accountability. It's disgusting, but I've no clue how we can change things on a cultural level. Feels pretty far gone as is.

And so, it's safer for people socially to just never accept fault for anything ever. If they can gaslight the world that they're flawless then they don't have to be afraid of getting hurt.

There's also an element of privilege & entitlement as well. Some groups were already seldom held accountable.

We don't give people the grace to be human. Say or do something shitty on social media or irl 10+ years ago? Well, you haven't suffered enough so says the mob? Growth? What's that? People don't grow and even if they could the mob's job is to make sure that doesn't happen. Retribution at any cost.

Because we've taught entire generations to be abnormally afraid of failure. Definitely something I've picked up on in recent years but taking responsibility for fucking up is something people seem genuinely petrified of doing.

Mind you, we've also built a culture that takes no prisoners.
