AI seems to be suggesting to job hunters that they should ask potential employers ‘Where do you see this role developing in a year’s time?’. So many ask me this same question. FYI, employers, when they smell a hint of AI induced responses, just switch off.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined our Annual Gatherings in Birmingham and Leeds!

My organisation charges other NGOs with a large income to buy tickets to attend our events. The idea is that that allows us to cover the travel expenses for unfunded grassroots and people seeking asylum. It’s embarrassing to see lack of solidarity - few groups are prepared to do this.

Solidarity is a verb: going beyond social media posts, marches and demos.
It is easy to say solidarity, it is much harder to do solidarity.
Read our tips on how to do solidarity and step up.

UK Gov’s criminalisation of support for Palestine Action is untenable, morally and politically.
It feels close to criminalising CND in the 1980s.
Time for Gov to admit it is a mistake and back down.

Social justice occupational world is full of charlatans.
People at grassroots - don’t automatically hold ‘professionals’ like us in high regard.
Check if we are listening, empowering and focused on our objective - create a better world.

Really no excuse what-so-ever to be like this when you claim to be:
- working at grassroots
- wanting systemic change
- against oppression / discrimination / inequality

People who say and act in a way ‘I’m too important to do THIS.’
You have no place in my world. Ever.
Feeling happy that now this is very clear to me.

Legal Update: Refugee family reunion: what’s changed, and what it means.
The UK Gov has paused refugee family reunion from 4 Sept 2025. Existing cases continue, but new applications must now use strict visa rules creating new barriers for safety and reunion.

Hi everyone!
Lots of things are thrown at us right now.
The truth is, migration is life.
We will stay connected, look after each other and spread solidarity and love, to build a society that protects us all.

PS I’d be grateful if someone can point me toward a clear Labour government statement rejecting Reform Party’s mass deportation plan. I was so busy today that I must have missed it.

PS One very minor point - this Times article uses Right to Remain's material... I felt incredibly ambivalent about that, given what the article is talking about.

A big thank you to all the anti-racist groups and people who are defending people in the asylum hotels. I hope other social justice movements (continue to) join us in protecting asylum seekers’ rights and dignity – we are in this together.

‘Crisis’ also provides a potential opportunity for crazy ideas to be normalised. See Reform’s policy proposals – too vile to mention what they are here, but have now been fed into public space. We really cannot let these proposals turn into reality.

If this goes ahead and the precedence is set, other judicial oversight over other matters could be removed more easily. Cue - a collapse of a legal system that is intended to protect people from the wrong or unfair decisions by states. Surely no one wants that?

Keir Starmer to curb judges’ power in asylum cases
As migrant hotel protests grow, the PM is preparing a fast-track system to cut the backlog
Any issue framed as a 'crisis' gives states an opportunity to curtail people's rights & liberty. This manufactured asylum hotel 'crisis' has emboldened the government to propose removing judicial oversight over asylum appeals as a solution. A TERRIBLE idea.

UK close to giving Israel's Elbit £2bn contract to train British soldiers
Elbit, which was the primary target of Palestine Action's activism, is close to winning a contract that would allow it to train 60,000 troops per year, according to Private Eye
Elbit, the Israeli company that was Palestine Action's primary target, is close to winning a £2bn MoD contract to train British soldiers. The idea that as genocide continues it's "business as usual" is why thousands plan to shut down the DSEi arms fair on 9 Sept www.middleeasteye.net/news/uk-clos...
