She can take cover in literal plain sight, and do all the classic ninja tools (kunai, grappling hooks, even smokebombs) despite her hands being totally empty.

I can also vouch that if you just download ESET and do the 30 day trial and don’t pay, all the features you’d need to clean things up will work

Both ESET SysRescue Live and Kaspersky Rescue Disk can do the job and are free. I worked for ESET and can vouch for it, people seem to really like Kaspersky too but due to trade embargo are annoying to download in the USA :/

we were ESET aka NOD32 antivirus if anyone’s curious what product that was amd is in a situation they might need to do it themselves.

What we would do (we were an antivirus company) is guide them through creating a bootable CD / USB drive with our software on it. Since the computer is now running an operating system off that disk instead of the HD, that’ll rob malware of most of its chances to run.

Also these instructions kinda conflate “my discord account was compromised“ and ”my computer was compromised.” And yeah if your computer gets compromised à la malware, it’s reasonable to think they got your passwords, but to not the same. Also please don’t freak out and hose the HD either

Business / corporate users there’s an argument to do it, but for a personal computer it’s pretty extreme. if there’s concern about something wild like boot time malware there’s STILL ways to fix that sans-wipe.

Hi, I don’t know you but I’m going to pick a fight anyway. Wiping is a pretty extreme response for a compromised personal computer: I worked at a computer security company who did over-the-phone rescues, we did not ever
make end users do that
