This isn't that different from social segregation in other middle eastern, caucaus, or Balkan countries though. Comparing America's very unusually high degree of social-residential integration to Israel's isn't a like comparison. There's also a language issue. People tend to want to live around people who speak the same first language. Muslims generally speak Arabic and Jews speak Hebrew.
