While you are laying next to a cold body of water, if your mind is wandering towards semi intellectual topics, here is something to help you slow down to speed when once you are back:

AI should be helping embed strategy in the day to day, fundamentally changing workflows from the ground up, and enabling management to build foresight not just insight.
Who is thinking about this? DM!
Unless you are doing big yearly planning, you spend about 3% of your time on 'strategy' (in general, with some pockets of exceptions), as per my historical estimates.
I think that AI should drastically change how we do strategy.
It is not just when should you adopt it, what features should it have, etc. The questions we should be asking are big - the biggest challenge with strategy work is it has always been an afterthought unless it is crisis time.

Hidden costs. No ways to look at it really. Unless you are traveling for the day, it makes no sense to show prices without a carry on.

There is an interesting thing happening to start up Value Chains:
β’ Revenue targets are increasing for software plays
β’ Org structure is becoming more focusing on Managing (imagine that!)
β’ The COO (in various iterations) is more important than ever

Reading Start up values and this is how I would summarise and critique:
- ownership - but you get very very little equity
- transparency - but not when the layoffs are about to happen
- equity - but your HR doesnβt live up to it let alone the male leadership
Get real, guys!

The problem with compromising your integrity is that it might you a battle, but it won't win you the war.
Then your best leave.
Then your customers leave.
Then you need to pack up and leave.

They still donβt get that AI is great for specific use cases and often you need numerous tools for a use case, rendering a lot of them actually quite expensive

Don't know if it is just me, but I don't find the doom and gloom of the tech industry about regulations particularly productive.
1) they forget the social contract
2) they make excuses for lack of creativity
I outlined it all here... sbohub.substack.com/p/we-need-to...

What does every company on the planet have in common? Their pricing is not perfect. π§― Some are less perfect than others, ranging from minor revenue lost to total PR fiascos.

Every year I pick a theme for personal growth. This year, the theme is to slow down - in a good way. Such that I can focus on the things that truly give me joy. Other #BizOps pros are also focusing on various key themes. Read about it here: sbohub.substack.com/p/the-2025-b...

We should stop calling the work that keeps companies alive #BAU (Business as usual). It diminishes the value. Doesn't celebrate the contribution. In my view, it is #FoundationalWork. It is the work that keeps the lights on. The work that makes sure you have a business. #bizops
