Who’s paying for the Coalition melodrama
"When people feel ignored, taken for granted or abandoned, anger seeds. When no credible solutions are offered, frustration hardens into cynicism. And when that happens, political forces that promise simple answers – or someone to blame – flourish." | Helen Haines satpa.pe/rV53mbZ

I wonder if those who ask about end of life disposal of Wind turbine blades consider the end of life of a Coal mine? and the mountains of toxic ash they produce? or do they go the same place their fuel comes from? another imaginary dimension...

Fortescue launches its first electric locomotives - with batteries the size of more than 200 Tesla EVs
Fortescue has launched the first of its massive battery trains, which it says the hardest part of its goal to eliminate fossil fuels by 2030.
Fortescue launched 14.5 MWh battery-electric locomotives in the Pilbara — that’s ~200+ Tesla packs worth of storage rolling through iron ore country. Heavy haul rail. No diesel. Massive regen on the downhill runs. This is industrial #Bettrification ⚡🚆

Documents released under FoI show Wells’ department worried about how gambling reforms would affect sporting codes and media companies
950 days after the Murphy Report into gambling reform was released, the Albanese government hasn’t responded to a single one of its recommendations. Meanwhile, Australians lose almost $90 million every day to online gambling and pokies. It’s time to ban the advertising of online gambling.

Pretty cool article. An airborne wind turbine developed in China
I remember when the US was at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, but since the rise of the anti-science MAGA cult the US has fallen behind many other developed nations in innovative tech.

"The LNP were effectively giving Queensland's coal to Adani for free."
After the LNP abandoned a court case against Adani over unpaid coal royalties, it looks pretty dodgy that the data shows they received over half a million dollars in donations from Adani.

A reminder: ICE vehicles waste a whopping 80% of energy in their fuel.
EVs are propelled by entirely different mechanisms. Energy enters the vehicle as electricity, which directly powers the drivetrain making it 3-4x more efficient.

BYD passed Ford in 2025 on total vehicle sales — a historic inflection. This isn’t about China “winning”. It’s about legacy auto discovering, too late — that once battery cost curves flip, incumbency stops mattering. This isn’t disruption coming. This is disruption already priced in. #Bettrification
