Killed by country in Israel/US-Iran war.
Killed by country in Israel/US-Iran war.
As Trump/Netanyahu bomb Iran, let there be no doubt.
We have repeated psychological evidence from Trump on why a US president would bomb Iran.
In 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2019 Trump said a US president would only bombing Iran to get elected!
Let none—on left or right be fooled!
If current reporting is accurate, the US-Israel strikes in Iran are not (just) targeting the nuclear program, but also hitting key regime facilities associated with its decisions making bodies (the supreme leader and supreme national security council)—some located in very densely populated areas.
Trump’s team gives another sign we are marching to war with Iran…
“On February 27, 2026, the Department of State authorized the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members of U.S. government personnel from Mission Israel due to safety risks.”
BREAKING
The Chinese government is advising its citizens to avoid travel to Iran and urging those currently in the country to leave immediately.
Wishing Christians and Muslims meaningful periods of fasting—Lent and Ramadan—which both begin today in the USA. Whatever our faith let us use this season to lift up compassion and generosity and work to bring peace to all—especially those suffering from violence or oppression.
Some personal news: Honored / honoured to join @ChathamHouse, @chmenap
Looking forward to engaging on bridge-building and pragmatic/principled diplomacy based on equal/human rights in Israel-Palestine and the Levant during a defining moment in history.
“Do you favor or oppose the United States initiating an attack on Iran under the current circumstances?” 21% favor, 49% oppose, 30% don't know: The latest round of the UMD Critical Issues Poll with SSRS, fielded February 5-9, 2026.
America just lost a loving, visionary community leader, Ish Ahmed.
Ish helped create inclusive institutions lifting up uncountable lives.
A mentor to many, i was blessed to have met him decades ago.
Rest in peace/power.
May he always be remembered for your love & vision.

Imagine the horror of seeing your city destroyed, fleeing for safety+then being unable to register your child’s birth—blocking your return.
Yes, Israel controls Palestinian population registry—deciding legal status, family reunification+Gaza entry/exit.
Whatever word you have for that, it's ugly.
Trump wants to treat ultra-wealthy foreigners better than Americans!
Under the proposed Trump “Platinum Card,” wealthy foreign nationals could live most of year in the U.S. while paying NO U.S. tax on foreign income.
American citizens? Still taxed on worldwide income—forever.
Israeli supreme Court continues to deny access for international journalist to Gaza.
Freedom--of speech, of the press--are among the most fundamental American values.
Americans can/should insist upon Freedom of the Press everywhere we have influence including Israel/Palestine/Gaza.
Palestinian Leadership takes bold step towards badly needed elections.
Requires candidates to commit to vision of two-state Israel/Palestine coexistence.
If only Israeli law required the same! But that would mean majority of current Israeli parliament couldn't run for office!
In apparent reference to the UAE and Israel, Egypt's President Sisi says: “Cairo opposes attempts to fragment regional states or create militias and parallel entities that operate outside national armies and institutions," as he moves closer to KSA.

5) Bottom line: Muslims tell Trump/Israel, “we’ll play along for now—if this truly advances Palestinian rights/statehood.”
4) In other words: (i) Grounds participation in Palestinian rights, self-determination and statehood & int’l law, (ii) Gives key Muslim states leverage, (ii) Avoids Muslim disunity, (iii) Avoids angering Trump, (iv) Effectively conveys to Israel a mild version of ‘No Justice, No Peace.’
3) What it says: Support Board as “transitional administration” based on UN Res 2803 and "the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood in accordance with international law, thereby paving the way for security and stability for all countries and peoples of the region.”
2) What it does: (i) Re-grounds effort in international law. (i) Creates Solidarity. Joining together as a group is more powerful than acting alone and signals they will negotiate as a block—possibly leave as a block. (iii) Avoids rejecting/angering Trump.
1) Eight Key Muslim-majority countries—Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Araiba, Türkiye, UAE—issuing a JOINT statement on Trump’s “Board of Peace” is a powerful—and I argue—smart response. Here’s why.

7- Of course, leaving aside the irony of threatening to take over Greenland, this is all enabled by the utter failure of international institutions/security council to effectively/humanely address existing crises for YEARS, central among them in Gaza/Israel/Palestine.
6-More politics than peace. A body seen as imposed, personalized, and transactional won’t gain durable legitimacy. May be expedient, but Ultimately makes real peace harder not easier. Read the reported bylaws for yourself! x.com/hadyamr/stat...
5- Gaza/Israel/Palestine is the pilot—world is objective. Even if circulated with Gaza governance, the charter doesn’t mention Gaza. Clearly means this is a template for other conflicts too. This will be almost certainly be applied worldwide.
4- $1B = pay-to-play permanence. Exempting big contributors from term limits makes membership look purchasable. Even if “voluntary,” it screams transactional influence and corrodes credibility.
3- Derives legitimacy from UN while undermining it. It uses the language of international institutions like votes, immunities, bodies to build a parallel structure that sidelines existing multilateral frameworks and weakens legitimacy.
- Not multilateralism—Trump retains lifetime veto. “1 state, 1 vote” is cosmetic if every decision still needs the Chairman Trump’s approval. That’s centralized control, not rules-based governance. (He also solely gets to appoint his own successor).
