The little peek looks beautiful, Marlo! Glad to know you are getting some free painting time.
Oh, no. I'm so very sorry.
Friday #kidlit recap: I did all the fun work stuff, moved onto taxes (has to be done). How about you?
Argggh. I'm sorry. The kids still LOVE axolotls, so even with several books out, I don't see them fading in interest anytime soon!

Hooray! Love what they did!
Thank you, Bonnie. We needed a bright spot today! So grateful for everyone following along and sharing their work. It’s a team effort! #kidlitartpostcard
A middle-grade-aged girl wearing glasses, jeans and a frog-covered sweater holds a copy of Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile and looks suspicious as she eyes the door of the library behind her. The door is ajar and a sign on it reads "Missing: Librarian." The text on the postcard reads "Michael Dashow, mdashow-kidlitart.carrd.co, repped by Vicky Weber @ CMA."
Hi again #KidLitArtPostcard day! I'm not sure how I found time to draw & paint this month... It's a mystery (not unlike the situation in this illo! 🔍🐸)

This is lovely, Bonnie!
Illustration of two very kid-like bugs: an intrepid beetle getting his bearings from atop a leafy plant, and his caterpillar friend who is taking time out for a snack.
Hello, #kidlitartpostcard day! I adore bugs . . . on paper. Here are a couple of my favorites who'd love to tell you their story. I work traditionally in pencil and pen & ink, with watercolor and digital color. This piece is pen & ink with digital collage.

Ooooh. Thanks! I keep bookmarking 'ologies episodes but haven't listened yet. I will add the axolotl episode.
Thanks! I have a drawing sheet for them too - I'm halfway through a school visit and have been drawing them with K-2 today! www.ginaperry.com/printables
It's brand new, so there might be a few design goofs to work out. But I'm keeping it very simple since some kind folks in #kidlit publishing mentioned that it might be helpful to have a reminder when our event rolls around.

Yes!!!! They are copepods! I went down a rabbit hole learning about axolotl and Lake Xochimilco when I was working on this.
Illustration of four stylized axolotls playing underwater. One rests gently on the bottom looking at a cute orange copopod. One has a dancing vibe. One is showing the dancing friend a cool plant. One is nuzzling another copopod. The water is green, loose moss floats about. The axolotls are various shades of pink and yellowy beige with bright pink and orange gills. Art by Gina Perry
